    Yes sir. I do it every time. About 5 years ago I had the exact same thing happen. Tugged it and everything. I was pulling out very slow so it only dropped on the drives. I use a flashlight always now.

    Always visually inspect the kingpin lock. Always.

    Yard jocky or driver,when hooking you should always tug test of course but I get out and under the trailer to make sure locking jaws are clamped around the king pin..
