Still waiting on your start date for your new job? Its been what, 3 months? Not much for driving around this area if you want to be home everyday. It's just like any other ltl job, peddle all day pickup afterwards.

Why are you worried about the other job I mentioned... As a matter if fact yes I a still waiting.... But a good paying union position takes time to get into... You wouldn't know anything about unions though, would you... You are one of those guys that is scared that cpc will fire anyone who talks about a union... If you are happy with the treatment you recieve then by all means stay with you messed up company... As for me , thanks but no thanks... I guess you feel that it is right that they canned the guy in edwardsville for having a heart attack.... Did you even meet him???? He was one of the better guys Cpc had... Anyway, I hope you enjoy you career and hopefully you don't get ill either....

This outfit sounds like Dollar General , same MO. They like um young and dumb. Then when your back is fried they will just find another to replace. Ask a doctor what reaching above your waist repeatedly to pu 50lb items versus below does to the human spine. 10x more force is placed on spine.

    Dodge4x4 Thanks this.

I worked for CPC on the Walgreens account for 6 years in Florida. From 03/2002-03/2008. I guess it's different at each domicile. When I was hired the guy who hired me laid everything out on the table. No surprises. I started on the delivery side. For the first few years. And yes the worst part of the job was the way they loaded trailers. Nothing like opening trailer door and seeing a wall of totes with no where to stand at the end of the trailer. Then the shuttle driver rear ended another truck on I-75 and lost his job. I then moved to the night shuttle position. Tallahassee to Orlando and back. Gravy. I never had issues with the equipment. It was old when I started. But if I ever needed anything fixed I wrote it up and trans service fixed it. We eventually got new tractors.

The reason I left was this, the guy that hired me was awesome. Stood up for the drivers. Fought for us hard. Did all he could to stand by us. Unfortunately he fell ill and passed away. The guy they replaced him with was a real tool. I got divorced. And decided I wanted to go back OTR. But I loved the job for 95% of the time. Sorry you had such a bad experience with them. Good luck in your future job.

If this guy thinks he's got it bad now, wait 'til he's at the bottom of the board at his new "union" job. He'll be lucky to get any hours at all, and being a "casual" at a freight company is no easy gig.

Yeah, I was a casual at Preston for a while. Babysit the phone, can't go anywhere, because you "might" get the call, etc.

I wonder if this is the same outfit that does the runs for Walgreens out of Windsor WI (Madison). There is always an ad in the State Journal every Sunday looking for drivers for Walgreens. With the pay that it offers it must not be that great of a job if they always advertise for it. This kind of answers the why they can't get drivers question I had about it.
