Well today I had an interview with Rockwater Energy. I came across their name while searching for companies out in the Midwest. I wasn't sure if I was going to have to move or not, but I am glad I found something in my area.
They advertised for a CDL driver. I am still in school, but applied anyway. During the interview, they said that I would be hauling trailers and equipment to different well sites in the Western PA/Ohio/West Virginia region. After some discussion, they revealed that I will be driving a 1 ton (they have 4 new Silverado 3500 HD trucks on order) and pulling gooseneck trailers with different types of equipment. When I am not pulling, I will be helping set up or tear down at the sites, or back at the shop. It sounds like I will be part of a good team, but will be responsible for maintaining my own hours and logs, and operating independent of the crew during my pulls. I will be the only driver out of this location. I also get to take the truck home! They pay isn't the highest, but it seems that the schedule and benefits sort of even that out. Only one way to see.
They did have some bigger trailers, and they said they do 3rd party those pulls out with a semi. Maybe someday they will decide to do that in-house too? That would be cool.
