The goal was to team with my hubby. That is apparently going to be a long-term goal since he is not able to hit the road until later this year. Since I am going first he should be able to do his training with me and then join me as a team.

I don't think that Celadon gives you a choice until after you have completed your contract term. Everything I have read has been team driving. Hopefully I can find someone that can put up with me for a few months while I am at school. :biggrin_25519:

I see but now I don't seem so sure about them or any other companies I'm looking at ... Very very frustration at this time ...

If I were you, I wouldn't hesitate to contact the recruiters for the each company you are looking at. Tell them what you don't want and ask them if their company offers what you do want. I would hope that they will not out-right lie but asking for them to send you an email confirming what they just told you should help to keep the fibbing down to a minimum. I haven't tried this personally but I do know that they won't put anything in writing unless they are willing to be bound by it.

Just remember you aren't likely to find the perfect company and start narrowing your choices by ruling out the ones that are completely unacceptable.

    newbietrucker007 Thanks this.

Thanks for your reply dum. My friend may be ok with the low pay for a while if we can drive together. So my plan is to go through their 3-4wk class, 5-6 wk driver training, then team up with my friend for the combined 240,000. I have to tie up a few loose ends before I can start. It should be another 2 wks. But that is the plan I am looking at. It seems this school and company get the fewest negative reviews of all of the ones I have researched. That is why I am strongly considering them. It seems the pay is one of the lowest. But I would rather get lower pay for better training. Then I can make better money later, after my 240,000 miles are done.

Well, my bags are all packed with just the computer left to go. I am off to training. Hopefully, I won't fall into the same blackhole that sucked up Whiteknuckle and Sonex. I will try to keep updating here because there seem to have been a LOT of changes and there isn't very much new information available. Should I start that as a new thread?

    Green_20 and newbietrucker007 Thank this.

You should start a new thread for it. I am highly interested my self. After having gone through swift back in Richmond,VA..... Man! Class of 16 works together, they give us each different packets to study for. They do a pre-evaluation from Swift before even attending the DMV. If you don't pass their own class room test which is Logging and mapping then you get a probationary thing. If you fail another test or anything on the range after, they send you home. My first week I originally got there it was a three strike rule thing, but it seems as if they avoided a contract agreement you signed. SWIFT them selves actually test you on your pre-trip, Air Brakes, Backing and Road test all prior of attending the DMV. So if you fail it for SWIFT because you have a bad day, and failed a in class room test 2 weeks earlier.... Say bye bye!

On another note of having gone there and being on my last day. I was being Road Tested by SWIFT, non-dmv and barely clipped a curb with the front left tired. Could add more detail about the turn, but I was avoiding a light, and crossing over the white line with the trailer tandems so took the turn late. The road was at a 45 degree angle furthest away from me. Anyway, sent home my last day prior to heading off with the DMV that following Monday. In the 2hrs-34minutes of drive time in my logs, that is the day I hit the curb by 2 inches. Never made it to the DMV because of that after having been there for three weeks. -.-

I am curious how Celadon works with new people coming in like that and have a few others Q's. So keep us posted!

Thanks dumbolnd. As you said, please don't fall off of the map like the others. Keep us posted. I will probably be making a decision here in a week or so.
