Thinking of going with Roehl

7 on, 7 off is one of Roehl's programs. You'll slip-seat with another driver, so the truck will never be yours alone. Your personal gear will be loaded and unloaded every week. When you're out, you'll run out your 70 and work your butt off. But this might be what you want.

Your Evo III will likely be 7/4 and 7/3 for 6 weeks before getting on the 7 & 7. AND, there is NO guarantee they'll accept you on the 7/7 hometime fleet. On 7/7 you generally do run pretty hard, and you gotta prove yourself first. As for Momma Kay's comment about slip seating, REMEMBER, if somebody is waiting to launch with the truck the odds of getting back on time are greater. When I didn't have a driving partner waiting to launch in OUR tractor, getting me home wasn't a priority... Personally, if I wanted a seat to own my ###, I'd own the tractor. Slip seating is not all bad....

 

Are the same points generally true for the 11/3 as well?

 

11/3 is actually 11-17/3. You have your own truck.

 

So milestogo's comment about the other driver waiting to launch doesn't apply to 11/3 since you have your own truck..... so they will probably screw you around when its time to go home......right? .....so thats why its more like 11-17/3.... 6 days difference........ probably more like 17/3 which is close to 21/3.... 1 day home for every week out........ haha.

 

I could be remembering this a day or so off, but if you are out up to 11 days, you get 2 days off. Out from 11 to 18 days gets you 3 days off. Out from 18 to 20 something gets you 4 days off and so on. It keeps going. The longer you stay out, the more time you get off. In this fleet, you have your own truck. You take it home with you. I used to drop my trailer at the Hampton drop yard and take the tractor home. You can take the trailer home if you have a place to park it. I was lucky to have a spot to park the trailer since it would not fit in my drive way. The Hampton yard is gone now. So, getting back to the original question, no matter if you are out 11 or 17 days gets you the same amount of time off. The best deal to me was getting home on that 11th day. I would tell my DSR on my first day out what day I wanted to get home. They were good about getting me there when I asked them to.

 

It's actually 11 days out for 3 days off, then an additional 1 day off for every other 7 days out, but that was pretty close. I try keeping my dispatcher informed of when I want to be home and he works with me and usually gets me there when I want to be there. Overall, it's going to depend on your dispatcher. My dispatcher always shot for getting me home on the weekends without me even asking.

 

I run 11-3 but everytime I am ready to go home I end up getting the run around. I am based out of Ellenwood and this last time they brought me within 30 miles of Ellenwood and then made me sit on a load for 14 hours rather than relaying it. All this on my 12th day out and I was very clear to my DSR about my hometime. I have been with Roehl a little over 6 months now and some of thier crap is getting real old. I can't see me staying one day after my year of service and experience.

The 11/3 is a very important selling point, and if that isn't held up on their end then some of the comparisons of other companies comes into play.

I have also heard that if you get in at 6pm that is counted as one of your 3 days, or if you leave at 2pm that is also counted.....is that correct?
