My husband works for Schneider and is a flatbed glass hauler as well
-
Does he like driving for schneider?
-
He does to an extent. He hates the home time (as do we all), and they mess his pay up regularly, but fix it quite fast. He also hates that everywhere he loads/unloads never does it at his appointment time, so he runs late on everything. But I'm sure it's that way with most trucking companies.

Not necesarly... What Schneider does, like most other carriers, is use a program that gives an estimate of an ETA of a truck between the pick up city and the destination city and it can be quite unrealistic... Do you know if he has spocken with his STL on the mater? In most cases, not all, the delivory times can be adjusted...But I'm sure it's that way with most trucking companies.Click to expand...

Yes, he's spoke to his STL many times about it. He has just told him that it's not up to him what load times he gets, it's up to the dispatchers. For example, just yesterday he had an appointment time for 8am in Chicago, they didn't even back him in the door til after 11, and didn't get him unloaded until nearly 3pm. Then he had to drive forever to get to his next appointment, in which he was late for because there wasn't enough time to get there on time. This happens with nearly every load he has. He gets really frustrated with it because there's just no way he can make it on time practically anywhere he goes.portlanddriver said:Not necesarly... The best trainings I've ever had!
I have had trainings in several driving schools.
Among trucking schools, the best one is Schneider National.
Among Bus companies, the best one is GrayHound Bus.
Thank to their trainings, I have been accident-free for over fifteen years.
(Knock on wood!)
Just follow their teachings You will be free from troubles.
Good Luck!

I enjoy reading your well thought out replies to posts. I own websites dedicated to trucking and one of our purposes is to provide a means for trucking companies to receive applications and leads for drivers, either applying for a job directly through the website or by using our sites as a portal to the trucking company's hiring page. I read forums to better understand the situations drivers face, whether it be a bad experience with a trucking company I am familiar with or hearing of a good company. An objective and critical assesment of a company is much more effective than a raving rant and your analysis has much greater impact than the emotional tirades I so often see in forums related to trucking companies. Keep up the good work.
My experience with the trucking industry is 16 years, 10 spent in insuring small trucking companies and owner operators, the last six in internet sites dedicated to the trucking industry. I enjoy talking to the drivers and hearing their stories, but I also enjoy hearing the management speak at seminars and so forth. I found it interesting the discussion of Swift Trans and the changes there. I remember hearing one of their top management people speak at a forum where trucking companies and driving schools were trying to work together, and his response was different from other trucking companies, a much more aggresive growth period was what he saw for Swift. Now most of the compaies I speak with want more qualified drivers and to this end I am working on a site devoted to those drivers who have more than three years of experience and would like to deal with more experienced recruiters and trucking companies willing to reward themfor their driving skills. My question is whether the site will be economically viable and whether it should be geared towards the smaller companies with a few national companies thrown in. Unfortunately the internet is not "A field of dreams" , if I build it they will come, but rather if I build it, eventually they will come if write every word based upon what the search engines look for. SO we will see if we can make it easier for better drivers to find better jobs. Until then keep informing us about which companies to avoid and which do it better. Thanks for taking your time to make trucking better....
