    Hey Joe,
I cant PM because I dont have enough posts yet. I am in Afghanistan and returning to the States this year. I have had a career in the military and as a civilian supporting the military for the last 16 years in Aviation Operations. We are a very saftey oreinted career field.

would you mind telling us or PM me more information on your company. I'd like to get my CDL and get into the Oilfield working for a company that values safetey and Hard Work.

I live in a tent hooch amongst the troops and workd 14 hour days, 7 days per week. I dont think I can take working 8 hour days..lol I'd be bored.

    Thanks in Advance.

Statically you have more incidents and accidents when you pay based off of commission on the load. Drivers will hustle to try and get that next load, etc. When an hourly rate is payed there is no rush to grab that next load or speed, etc because you are getting paid the same regardless of how many loads you move.

i agree totally...you see drivers cutting in line, not pulling over and letting you pass on tight roads, and generally just driving stupid while getting paid on % of load...one company really comes to mind, but i wont name them

    joewispers Thanks this.

Oh there are several that come to mind for me but I'm not one to throw companies under the bus publicly.

Your absolutely correct. It is a problem with most companies. But I guess my point really was the part about being specialized. We typically haul our loads 5-15 miles and never see asphalt. We use e-logs and OB telemetry so I know instantly if a driver is speeding. I have a strict policy of 35 MPH on the dirt and require drivers to turn on the hazard lights and pull over to let four wheelers pass. (keeps the locals happy). Must be doing something right because the locals love us and local law enforcement calls me to tell me my drivers are great. Never overloaded, logs are good, paperwork is in order, so on so forth. Had a county sherriff tell me they see our trucks and dont even bother bugging us anymore. So it doesnt always have to be a bad thing (commission) And, I tried the hourly thing in the beginning because I felt the same way. I had the opposite problem. I couldnt get guys to get any loads hauled. Almost put me under.
