what companies pay a straight 40 hours on the off week of a rotation schedule?

I got a job offer working on a cement crew on a 14 on 7 off rotation. I had read in past discussions on various forums that it used to be common to get paid for a straight 40 hours on the off week of a rotation schedule but the company that offered me the job doesn't offer that which is fine by me because I'm just super happy that someone is giving me a chance to get into the industry in a job that I have wanted for a while and being the frugal person that I am my pay will be more than enough for me to live well. I understand that obviously it cuts costs to not pay people when they're not working but why did companies offer this benefit in the first place? Also do y'all know which if any companies still offer this benefit?

    Why?

Because at one time we weren't truck drivers, we were Bob, Larry, Joe, and Tom. And you used to take care of those who took care of you. But that was thrown out the window years ago.

So you wouldn't go work on another crew on your days off.

I think pumpco still pays straight 40 on your week off. The biggest reason they started it was to save money. It was cheaper to give you 40 hrs than let you work more than 2 days off and they didn't like to tell people they couldn't work cause people would leave. It was common for a few years for frac companies to do it but I haven't heard of it much lately. Some companies like calfrac and Halliburton in Alvarado claim to but it's not a true paid forty. They would split the schedule so you would go off on a Wednesday and say if you haven't gotten 40 by Wednesday they would make up the difference.

Sammie, good to see that you're still around. I was wondering if you had found anything yet.
Hope everything works out with the job offer.
Give me a shout if you are around Big Spring.

what location are you? 7-2, 7-2, 7-3 is what I have heard and that doesn't give you 40 off in a row. I hope they pay the off as if it were all at once, better double check.
