Did he wreck or did they pull him out at gun point?

My teammate said that there was a long set of skid marks and damage to the retaining fence. It looked like the cops had time to show up, checked on the guy, left him in place after finding him dead, and were setting up flares to alert oncoming traffic. Couldn't have happened more than 5 minutes before my partner drove through. Cops must have been parked in the construction zone, saw the guy come through, and started after him.

Last week when I drove through I think it was Missouri at night, there were electronic road signs posting how many road workers were killed and how many total injuries and deaths there had been in 2013 in the state. Can't remember the figures, but it was an astonishing number.

Truckers do this all the time too. I-40 near Forest City, AR is a classic example of this behavior, either direction, 2 lanes to 1 ... almost invariably at least one trucker runs the last mile at 72 MPH trying to get ahead of and intimidate as many as possible from moving over in front of him, causing everyone behind him to have to slow that much more to maintain a safe following distance ... as if they are going to drive through the area at 70 MPH and don't want to be impeded by the "slow traffic" who only wants to drive 62 :biggrin_25510: And it's not like they weren't notified 4 miles in advance, every mile.

You are absolutely correct, STexan. I had a "trucker" initiate a pass with less than a mile to go before an approaching lane closure last week. He couldn't complete the pass without me slowing well below the speed limit and created a bottleneck of cars that he cut off to start the pass. Real class act.

Oh, and he didn't drive for any of the mega carriers.

Maybe from Illinois, Indy or Ohio though!
