Hello Notarps just wanted to let you know I got accepted at Roehl. I didn't want you think that I had any secrets to hide from, since you know so much about a person from asking a simple question? If you must know my nephew is the one that is questionable. Unfortionally instead of you providing facts you decided on a little sarcasm. So I had to get my answer elsewhere. Thanks but no thanks, anyway be safe out there on the road.

Not completly true. Yes a felony can be plead down to a misdemeanor, and a judge can even reduce a felony to a misdemeanor but thats not the only point of it.

There are three basic levels of offence, 1. infraction 2. misdemeanor 3. felony. To give a scope for these..
Infraction would be a speeding ticket say 65 in a 55. No real trouble pay a fine and a few years down the road its like it never happened it goes poof.
Misdemeanor is a bit more serious like a say a first offence DUI. Maybe jail time and/or probation, fine, ect and while it may get barried in the past it never really goes away unless you have it expunged from your record.
Felony is the "You put your foot in it" offence lets say DUI with injury accident or mutipal DUI's.

Felonies can also be expunged from your record by a court but it takes a bit of doing and your best bet is to have a lawyer. Unless the felony is 10+ years old and you have gotten into no other trouble other then traffic citations odds are its not going to happen. So if someone is reading this and thinking that they just found thire loop hole out of a DUI or felony possession charge from 6 months or more ago. Well all I can say is dont hold your breath. But DO talk to a local lawyer!! about this has they can give you better info for your area.

I have side with Notarps on this one. Typicaly when someone starts asking "Whats being looked for in a background". Its becuse they want to know what to fess up to and what to keep their mouth shut about.

Questionable? So your nephew is "kinda pregnant"? Eather he has been in trouble or he hasnt. If he has then you need to base your question on that with some basic details in order to get any sort of a usefull answer. Simply asking for whats looked for in a background is just to vage and roundabout. How can anyone provide you with any facts based upon that?

Thanks for this reply this is helpful. I'm not here to display anyone's past mistakes it's no ones business and embarrassing. You were able to answer with out specific info and for that we thank you. First thing I told him was to ask a lawyer but all they want is money first so I suggested I would ask some professional drivers, knowing they have heard of just about everything or knows someone that did whatever and this is what they had to do. Thanks to all with the info they provided.

I went to Roehls school in Marshfield, nice guys up there, good teachers
I worked for Roehl just long enough to be offered a local job. I live in the Northeast so theres no shortage of trucking jobs in the NYC metro area.
Roehl has nice equipment, Freightliners, Internationals and some Volvos.
I drove an International with 290,000 went I first got it. I have no complaints
with Roehl. They keep their word and treat you fair, Good Luck

    :biggrin_2554:Huh!?!? :biggrin_2556:

Just so you know, ROEHL went through a major fleet purchase two years ago and most of the "Beaters" are gone.:biggrin_25517: Not saying you'll get a new truck, but you should get one with less than 200K on it and believe me, that's almost showroom quality!!:biggrin_25523: Currently there are over 178 new 2006 Columbias in Marshfield, but no one has been issued them yet because the majority of the fleet hasn't reached the swap out age (mileage) yet. Normally, ROEHL only keeps trucks until the 550K mark then sells them off.

As far as maintenance goes, it's better than most. Saying that, you can keep the down time for your truck at a minimum by taking basic care of it and doing the small work yourself.

You're going to hear people whine about that but when I was a company driver, I would rather be driving than waiting for a slot to get a light bulb changed.. :biggrin_2558::biggrin_2558: As an O/O, I just get the parts, do the work myself if I can, and get on down the road....:biggrin_25519::biggrin_25519:

Hope you get the truck you want... Good luck to you....

I left Roehl April of 2013 and I'm going back to them I leave Saturday for Gary IN. It's not the easiest company to get on with I consider myself lucky!!
I only have 9 months experience. I got laid off at a local job I took and the economy here in the Charlotte area is bad, even for drivers. They have good equipment the truck I had had 150 K on it. International PRO STAR...I'm going back and do the 14 out and 7 home rotation and see how that works.

I'll give you a great example of why you should think about getting a felony expunged. I was driving a school bus and our safety director told us about a potential driver who was a retiree and wanted a little extra money. He had been married and was a grandpa, worked hard and was the type of person any employer dreams about. The problem was that when he was just out of high school and about 20 he started dating his future wife, but she was only 16. Her parents were non too pleased and had him charged with statutory rape. Evidently there was no jail time and the 2 of them got married. Since it didn't affect his career, or any other part of his life he forgot all about. Then he applies to drive a school bus and this felony shows up from over 30 years ago, thus he was disqualified.
