How does your driver pay for gas?

i believe different companies set it up differently with EFS
my company puts $300 on every week for expenses
that comes off my check until I turn in receipts
and the card supplies my fuel with the card by entering truck # and driver code

 

We have recently switched to Fleet One--and have had very good luck with it...depending on how it is(your choice)it can be used for just about anything--and in terms of smaller operations--it seems to provide very decent fuel discounts--within their system--which includes many of the majors(Not FlyinPilot)...Might want to check with them...http://www.fleetone.com/

There are fuel cards out there where the company can control the dollar amount the employee spends each day. That way they can't fill up someone else's truck at your expense when you ration them. After a company starts trusting you then you can ask them to raise the dollar limit if they were super tight. My last company I had them raise it and they gave me a $2500 daily limit. Not like I needed it but it was nice to fuel whenever I felt like it.

Someone that operates on cash or a prepaid card might be a red flag they ain't so good with their finances and they might cause problems with your payday.

 

Wow thanks guys. Lots of feedback. Okay while this is hot is there anybody here from NY that can tell me where to go to get the Plates and possibly the price for the plates. Is the plates also called tags?

I believe you have to go to Albany to get your plates cant do it at your local DMV office. not sure on price of plates. MAKE SURE all of your paperwork is correct & you have all your ducks in a row you could be there a couple days if not one thing wrong you go to the end of the line & start over. hope you have good luck they are a pain in the back side.

 

please tell me there is another way. I can't even drive the truck and I won't start paying my driver until the next month. If I got to Albany do I have to go with the truck?

No you dont have to take the tractor.

 

Guess everyone has to start somewhere, but I think the OP may have got the cart before the horse, if he has invested in a truck before finding out all this "trucking business" information. I wish him a lot of luck, because I'm afraid he is going to need it.
