$700 is the lowest point I accept, and I always plan on working six days a week. Which is why my weekly goal is $4200. I have been doing between $4600 and $5600 a week. It's all good.

It's all about NRPD - Net Revenue Per Day. Like I said earlier, my goal for NRPD is minimum $700. Start looking at the loads and figuring out what the NRPD is. If you need help I'll be glad to share my thoughts. Take care....

No way....Its about RPM.(revenue per mile) I burned 131 gls. of diesel today and after my small fleet owner pays me my .50/mile (622 miles)he would be going in the hole at even $800/ day. He isn't in it to break even or lose. I'm still trying to understand this concept it just seems like the rates are far too low for what you guys are doing.

You got 4.75 mpg. Horrible. If I get less than 7 I'm upset.
And revenue per mile directly correlates to revenue per day, obviously. But if your mpg sucks then your revenue per mile goes down. Many factors involved in what you make, as I'm sure you know. Well, not so much for you, since you get paid the same per mile.
If I ran that 622 miles at $2.00 a mile, I would make $1244 in revenue. I'll take that every day. My break even point is $.92 per mile, so I make $1.08 per mile clear, or $671.76 directly into my pocket, over double what you did.
    It just all depends.....

I thought of this some more. Net revenue per mile is good, but it's about net revenue per day. If I make $2 a mile on my 600 mile load that takes one day to deliver that's good. That's $1200 per day. But if it takes two days, my revenue per day just got cut in half. That's $600 per day. Not near as good, I could find two one day loads and make more revenue in those two days.
    Make sense?

The more miles you run a week the more fuel you burn. It is all a combo, Try to run the lowest amount of miles while netting the highest revenue possible. Less fuel and wear and tear on your truck., Tim the high dollar loads are normally spread out too far and this is causing you to lose potential revenue. It is really insane to take a load paying $2000 and spending $1000 in fuel and it lasting 4 days. Too many IC's get tunnel vision while looking and the load board and miss the real money makers. I always try to net, take home between .75 -1.00 a mile after all expenses and I achieve this pretty regularly and my highest paying load is in the low $700 gross.

Maybe that's where my problem is. I do tend to gravitate towards the $1000+ loads that take several days. I'm going home on Monday to take care of a couple things, then coming back out again on Wednesday most likely. Might try changing up my strategy a bit and going after 5 or 6 loads a week vs. trying to make all of my money in 3 long loads.

I also did some thinking back, and I didn't realize it before, but I do actually do a lot of my load booking in the evenings after I stop. I didn't realize that I had that pattern until one of you guys mentioned about checking the load board as soon as you get up in the morning. I might be missing out on too much by only checking at the end of the day vs. the beginning.

I'll keep you guys up to date on how things are going. It's definitely a learning process. If any of you have any specific pieces of advice, please feel free to PM me, any help is appreciated... Especially after this week and next week when my checks are only going to be around $200 each LOL. Gonna have to catch up very quickly to make next month's bills.
