More than double what I make?
I think not............................
The difference being in just the last 6 months or so my truck which only has 417,000 miles on it has had a new set of tires, alternator, turbo, seat, oil pan gasket, several air valves, a/c compressor just that I can think of and I certainly couldn't maintain my truck on even double what I make and have a living wage. And all trucks are subject to these same repairs and will certainly come. My fuel consumption yesterday was 121 gls. which put me at 5.0 which is normal running the speed limit and heavy.

My truck is well maintained and runs excellent. It is my livelihood.
I'm not trying to have an argument with you. We were discussing NRPD versus NRPM. I'm glad you enjoy being a paid per mile driver who drives for someone else and drives their truck, not your own. I did the same thing before I became an IC. To each his own.hi beam and EggoTrucker Thank this. -

I was not being argumentative, you missed my point. You seemed fixed on a certain number "per day" I was merely stating how that number could be eclipsed quite easily. You mention getting $2.00/ mile as your example and hope all are getting that opportunity but frankly, I just don't see it. I have tried the O/O deal with a truck and trailer I wrote a check for and failed. Well I shouldn't say "I failed" but I soon learned it wasn't worth the time and effort. I am still searching for ways or changes I could make and maybe try it again someday and maybe succeed. I still have the truck.
P.S. Most of the tours I run couldn't be completed in 11 hours even if I had a truck capable of attaining 7 MPG. My boss understands that and rates accordingly. One advantage he has is we haul our own product and my truck is equipped with a boom to unload myself. The power companies hate unloading what we haul and quite frankly they suck at it. -
Are u idling? If not sounds like pre 2011 engine. Those engine sucked on. Mpg

I firmly believe that I have managed to seriously piss off the load gods this week.
My latest plan to get from Atlanta to home fell through AGAIN today, because my load picking up in Alabama pushed the pickup forward until Monday, so they asked me if I wanted it pulled off of me, and I obviously said yes.
I think I've set some sort of record this week. I've booked a total of 9 loads this week, and only managed to deliver a single one. Had three of the loads either cancel or change, which killed off my other planned loads. Sheesh. No matter what I do now, I'm not getting a paycheck this week LOL. -
what happened to DFO his threads been taken over it seems

Probably kickin back at home just laughing at the thread.

load boards don't start moving till after 8.....waaay after 8. Roll out in the morning and start looking around 10, then stop again for lunch around 1 or so, and you'll have your best luck
try booking just a couple of loads at a time......keep it as simple as possible
you'll be ok, just had a bad week is all -
Tim,
Hang tough it is a learning curve, SNI has alot of customers that change thier loads and you just have to learn who they are. IE: Never haul home depot in Dallas. I only haul Hawkins loads out of neccessity and that place you were in in Pasadena is a big NO in my book. Just a little advise, if your gonna leave Texas run up to OH, IN , IL, WI. You can run all week up there making decent money hauling shorter loads try to average 1.5 loads a day minimum. Try hauling out of DFW into Arkansas and then up to the upper midwest.
