Thanks just a quick couple of questions? How good are the benefits? I need good benefits my soon to be wife is a diabetic I can't have real high deductibles. I have teamster insurance now which is good insurance, also how strict is walmart really? I see some of these guys act like you can get fired for any little thing. I don't want a job where I am worried everyday about the smallest mistake and losing my job. Of course with the union we have good job security. Thanks drozzer in advance. Have a good day

Do things the way you are supposed to, be safe, and have a good attitude. The benefits are good IMO. Again you would have to ask NYVET. Although he does live in NY he may have a better idea. It is different for each state but generally the same. We have medical, dental, vision, life insurances, stock options, 401k and a few others. Benefits start day one of orientation. Wal~mart has changed from what it was over the years when the old hands were hired. Just keep in mind that this company, as large as it is, has to stay ahead of the curve. They have been ahead for many years and things have changed to where that gap has been shrinked by other company's both on trucking and on the store side.

Well I had the pleasure of meeting Extreme4x4 today at the Arizona truck rodeo. He's a class act, he and his wife made my decision to leave ABF easier.
drozzer69 Thanks this. -
What much does Wal-Mart match on their 401k?
And what you mean by "gap has been shrinked"? You talking about outside carriers pulling Wal-Mart loads? -
I've never seen so many terminals posting jobs, the GTM wants 4 more and 6 start Monday.

Click the below link and you can download a copy of the 2014 benefits handbook. The medical plans in this handbook are priced for here in Texas, so the exact coverage and pricing may vary in other states. The medical insurance is ok compared to the plan I had with UPS Freight, but in light of all the changes to health insurance in the past year, it is not all that bad for the price. The customer service offered by Aetna here is very good as they have dedicated Walmart reps who answer the phone amazingly fast. Walmart is paying nearly 80% of the insurance premiums.
Yes, you can get fired for things here that would not happen in a Teamsters work environment. Just plan on keeping your mouth shut and never make any waves or one of Walmart's super arrogant managers will find a reason to get rid of you. There is a reason Walmart is sued thousands of times a year and it is not because of the size of the company, it is the size of the ego their managers in Bentonville have. Do not be in such a rush to jump the fence and come here.
