I think your boss should be more concerned about 4.6mpg. Its horrible. If I new I would have changed ALL #### sensors AHEAD of time. For example, $30 cheap oil pressure sensor cost me $1000 in towing, $450 labor and lost 6hrs. So what Im trying to say be prepared and change all that crappy sensors ahead of time. Just my $0.02.

I think its a good habit to obey a schedule of preventative changing of some sensors. Rawze made perfect guidance to that matter. Its always better to change $30-100 sensors at home yard than at middle of nowhere for $1500.Blind Driver Thanks this.

Yes, you are absolute right, and not all customers realize that. Some O/O believe the sensors will last forever or should only be replaced when they fail. Customers also need to realize when a problem does arise, that simply changing or cleaning a sensor will not fix the problem 100% of the time which is what you all are starting to believe. My point was, some customers feel they are ripped off because the sensor did not fix the problem. I am well aware of what Rawze has been saying lately, not my first barbecue. Search my posts, I have recommended sensor cleaning and/or replacement many, many times!!!

Yea it's not as simple as sensors, but having the right knowledge can save you thousands. A bad exhaust gas pressure sensor can lead to a lot of operations not working correctly tho, no DPF regen, soot build up, loss of mpg, pre-mature stress to turbo, turbo actuator alarms, soot build in others areas such as EGR valve, mixing pipe, feeder tubes etc

So fixing one thing like that can get other components back into working order, but not necessarily fix the damage that has been done

How much does a DPF cost for an 09?

Only one technician mentioned the rough idle and how the engine is slow to rev up. I've never heard nor felt the turbo spool up in 5 months except for few times when the truck would plant me back in my seat and then I heard a wonderful spooling sound from under the hood. Too bad it only lasted a second or two
I keep thinking the problem is electrical in nature. This all happened after our mechanic did a service.

Last time I bought one, it was $2100, but I have had a couple friends say they are chepaer now. A friend of mine just got a new one for $1800 in redding,ca from the dealer.bubbanbrenda, deming807 and Oscar the KW Thank this.

I was just qouted 2200 from cummins then 100.00 to calibrate. That is the new upgraded more efficient one. The new ones have been modified which is a plus. Whatever you do don't buy an after market. My opinion. Thanks
deming807 Thanks this. -
did anyone mention to check the dozer or is it doser. anyway it's located by the turbo and controls the diesel supplied to regen, they get clogged up and can cause the truck to not regen. they make a kit to fix the problem take 2 bolts off, easy to DIY. Problem is if your particulate filter is packed too full to clean now you'll have to replace that. you may also consider having the doser check to make sure it's suppling the correct amount of fuel to the regen.
