I have 14 months OTR flatbed experience. I've been working locally but the money isn't great and I'm missing the road. I love the company I was with previously, but they only run the eastern 2/3rds of The States. I'm really looking for something that would get me to the west coast and southwest often, if not exclusively. I live in Indiana. If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate them. I ran flatbed but would be open to refer, dry van or tanker. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I believe TMC runs coast to coast. They have a pretty good reputation as well. Decker runs reefer and flatbed and I know they run the Southwest some, not sure how far though.
dwalto Thanks this. -
Not sure who you are running for now, but you might look at Hunt Transportation (No, not JB Hunt) out of Omaha, NE. They are a flatbed company that is under the corporate umbrella of Crete Carriers, but run independently. Obviously if you wanted dry or reefer, Crete/Shaffer could be an option, too. Yes, they are a mega carrier and have drawbacks, but I have worked for Shaffer (reefer division) for 12 years now, and miles are good (2600-3200 a week for me) and pay is better than most(I am at $0.49...not bad for a company driver).
As for Hunt Trans, I do not know what the freight lanes are primarily, but I know they do alot of Valley (farm irrigation) and John Deere, so I would guess they get West and anywhere where ranching and farming are going on.dwalto and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Lonestar transportation hauls everything and runs every where
dwalto Thanks this. -
Try system transport. We've got a terminal in Gary and run mainly west from there
Lucky&FrogOTR and dwalto Thank this. -
I actually just filled out an app with them. I'll talk to a recruiter and see where it goes. Do you get to the west coast much? Or Southwest?
-
All the time, we have 2 terminals in California. I'm on a run from Florida to the Bay Area right now, this is the furthest east Ive been in months. Normally I don't get run past Indiana or Ohio. They try to avoid the north east. You will see a lot of California, Oregon, and Washington.

Sounds perfect. Thanks very much

Any deck company that hauls oilfield will get you all the western states and 1/2 of Canada, up to Alaska as well.
