Used it to lube the boots. Works like a charm. Corrosive? Common household dishwashing soap? It dries up to nothing.
How long for rings to seat after rebuild?

use hair spray, it lubricates and glues after a few minutes.

My c12 will smoke out the on ramp above 1700rpms but it's not stock. Did they update the ECM to a current tune?
-
There was no upgrade done to the ECM.

I had a neighbor who had work done to his engine years ago & found out that while doing a bull gear replacement the cac got a hole in it. damaged by someone being careless during take out or installation. loss of power & black smoke indicated something amiss. a air to air test confirmed the leak. co replaced cac with good used one.

Dawn is chlorinated and it will harm metals.

Well use a little motor oil then? Really don't think one time thing with dawn will hurt anything. One more thing about airto air hump boots. It seems like when most mechanics remove these for wwhatever job they haphazardly and half assed put them back on sometimes even damage them in the rush. They don't care and don't think it a big deal. But half assed is half assed and a leak is a leak. OP didn't mean to veer the thread off course hope everything is working out with your new motor.

Those guys are not mechanics, they are parts changers and butchers. There are few true mechanics left in the world.

I'm not trying to upset your apple cart. It makes no sense to use a product that will damage what it's applied too, in my opinion. Personally, I don't care if you use dawn for anti-seize or roll your bearings in with it. It doesn't make sense to corrode a seal surface of any kind.

And you know me how? Just because I'm new to this forum means I'm a half ### mechanic and parts changer/ butcher? I might have been born in the dark, but it wasn't last night. I've done hundreds upon hundreds of overhauls from 92u to 6nz, and from the infancy of 06r0. So if you to want use something corrosive to seal your ataac boots, go ahead. Then in about two years if and that's if you get a repeat customer and have to roll out your surface conditioning disc on your die grinder to remove the corrosion, you'll wonder why, or maybe not.
