Somerset, NJ, at cons/shipper. Glad I could overnight here. Hate it over here. Even Sunday afternoon blows driving.

Parma BP off I94 MI. Quietly parked by a pond. Got a couple nice pics at sunset. Wish could post from phone, but oh well. Gotta wait till 9 am till can deliver. Sigh.

Had a day that makes me think I want to run my very own truck. Something like a Columbia, or a low mile Century Class...maybe a 13 speed, have an APU, but nothing fancy. IDK. Theres so much to research about doing it. I know I can write a good business plan, research the taxes; Roehl's compensation, fuel surcharges, permits, tractor quality requirements; and run income expense projections. I know i could run the budgets, expense reports, and do this job; im just not sure if I'd be profitable enough to make it worth it.

Only reason I think about these things, is because I got one big pit to dig out of, and a larger income would make that a pit easier.

Im right there with ya I've tossed it back and fourth even thinking about leaving Roehl, but I'm not they've been too good to me and I won't leave. I'm hoping they get my CPM right though. But who knows what's down the road maybe one day I'll lease, until then I'll enjoy my nice new company truck :)

oh yeah, I'm in beautiful Gary.

    Dark Squall Thanks this.

I've thought about the prospect of buying my own truck many many many time.s Part of me really wants a cab over. The redneck in me really wants a 379. The intelligent part of me wants the cheapest, most reliable, fuel efficient, comfortable enough truck I can get. I'm sure I'll continue to go back and forth constantly until I eventually decide to take the leap and do it. I can say for sure that it will not be with Roehl when/if I do it. And I, like you, will sit back and enjoy my company truck until then.

I agree 98%, my only exception is I would opt for a new truck, under warranty. The monthly lease payments through a bank are no more than the payments many are making for used trucks. Just a bit longer of a term. I am a way's away from making that leap right now and quite content to stay in my company truck with Roehl for now.

Launching from home this AM and headed to Green Bay with a load of Scrap Paper. Be safe all :)

Yeah. But I can save up the $15/20k to buy a solid used truck and have no truck payment. May not be fancy, but it needs to be reliable, and generally I have found older vehicles to be more reliable than new ones with all the electronics in them now. I also have enough know how of wrenching on vehicles I could do most my maintenance myself.

Dark Squall and Heysunshine Thank this.
