Why's that?
-
He's worse than the green fleet dispatcher. Not sure how it's possible, but he's pulled it off lol. I'm getting bored of flatbed anyways and working here you just do too much work for free. I've hauled most everything we haul 50+ times at this point. It looks like the big bucks are in the hazmat tanker hauling. Onwards and upwards
.

That does it, I'm positive their reading this. Right as i'm about to quit and i get accepted onto the pole fleet -.- lol. Oh BTW milktanker i was talking with him and he said that a cab over will be opening up in about a month or so
.
Guess we are going to give this pole fleet thing a shot. -
Congratulations! So when do you start? You getting a cabover first or a kw?ramblingman Thanks this.

He just told me to get in touch with him and the dispatch manager next time I am in Spokane so we can talk it through. He's claiming one newer KW is open now and a Cabover will be open in a month. He stated he would likely start me in the KW and save the Cabover for someone with more experience as he had some special plans for it.
I'm a little confused though, because i was told from another pole fleet driver we just had a jarhead leave the pole fleet as getting home for drill every month was proving to be more hassle than it's worth. If that's the truck i'm getting that's by no means a newer truck not that it's a huge deal.
I've developed quite the reputation in the office I'm Sure so my talk with him and the dispatch manager should be interesting. The dispatch boss hates it when i set expectations for new dispatchers right off the bat. He's old school and prefers the prove yourself and see how things go method then start complaining once poor performance becomes a habit. I take a little more aggressive approach to it and try to avoid the problems ever occurring in the first place through communication of expectations before i ever start working with someone.
Given the level of experience of the people who will be at the table (20+ years each) I will probably use the first method.
The big stipulation The Pole Fleet manager had is that living in CA I'm going to have to be a 4-5 week home time guy when poles are busy rather than a 3 week home time guy which i responded with that is acceptable if you keep me busy for the whole 4-5 weeks and profitable.
I'm expecting a weekly gross avg of 1200 minimum and 1300 preferred within 6 months as I am making some significant sacrifices for this new position to include.
-10" smaller sleeper
-POS paccar 13 liter which will cost me hours of drive time going up and down mountains
-no APU
-less frequent hometime which will likely lead to more missed family events
-Higher expectations of performance
So we're certainly going to give it a shot, but I'm not opposed to going over to Hazmat Tankers if we can't meet those minimums. I know i can make 60k starting out over there and do half the work with more home time.Last edited: Apr 29, 2014

Just remember like I said, your switching dispatchers again. Your going to have to build your reputation from scratch. Brett is an old school guy, you win his respect and he will work with you.
If it's the kw I'm thinking of it was the first kw bought on the pole fleet. Not a bad rig at all. My cabover had 900k on it. No apu isn't a big deal, we can idle and we have inverters. These engines do have less power but it's still easy to throw down 650 + a day.
The big thing is just have fun with it. If you turn it into only being out here for money you will be miserable your whole career no matter what company your with.ramblingman Thanks this.
