I am finished raising kids and now starting a new career... 0I have about 15 years to work my tail off and create my retirement nest egg. I do love to travel and that is a plus, but I understand that driving is a hard and thankless job. I am one who appreciates what truckers do to keep our country operating and I do feel it appropriate to thank a trucker. Hope to see you guys on the road safe and happy soon
I am sponging up on all of the info I can get on schools, companies and types of jobs. so please feel free to share your wisdom!!! Thank you!
Looking forward to new career....

Always ask yourself what companies fit my needs. Make a list of what your needs are and rank them important to least important. Then when picking a company it'll be easier than you think. If you have a clean record and are in good health they'll all offer you a job. I had 10 companies offer me work and had 3 orientations scheduled before finally picking one. Good luck and welcome. See you on the road.

Thanks for the input... I believe I am in good shape (could lose a few xtra lbs) My driving record is clean and I want it to stay that way. I believe in Safety first. but I don't want to be put in a situation of time sensitive over safety. I want to start this with as much info as possible.. Thanks again!!!

Most companies are all e-logs now so you don't have to worry about running illegal. I do well at maverick but there are plenty of options out there.

You can have a huge nest egg in 15 years. I made a killing with my 401K doing the old "buy low, sell high."
Every time the stock market plunged, I would max out on my contribution to take advantage of low stock prices.
There's some good companies in your area where you can make good money for your retirement. Get all the endorsements, TWIC, passport so more opportunities will be available. Here's some companies that hire new CDL graduates even though some websites may have "experience required." The day you start classes also start the online applications.
