More Convoys Needed Now!!!!!!!

We are having a convoy on April 18th from Cloverdale, IN to Indianapolis. We already have two newspaper reporters and FOX news riding with us. Obama's, Clintons and Mithch Daniels offices have been contacted. We have heard from Obama's campaign and they want to meet with us if they can work out the details. We will leave Cloverdale at 9 am EST and head to Indy. The Indianapolis Star, channel 7 news and the Bedford, In paper have done stories on this convoy as well as our local radio station. We have done our part and have the media covering this convoy as well as possibly meeting with the presidential candidates. Now where are the trucks? I keep getting calls and emails saying everyone supports us but they can't afford to take a day off or they don't have the time, etc. What are you waiting for? Here is your chance to make a statement and have the press cover it. We sent emails to ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC and CNN. WE NEED TRUCKS!!!! Let's send 200 trucks to Indy on the 18th!

I am glad to see other truckers supporting Truckers in there goal..Instead of saying how good they are and all of there other B/S....

 

You guys really do need to draw attention to your problems. But you really can't make any demands until you have a union. And under the present laws you can't have a union.

It's so ironic that the antitrust laws were created to keep the large companies from banding together and squeezing the little guy. And now 100 years later they have twisted it around and the anitrust laws protect big companies from the small businessperson.

 

It is kinda funny how we can't strike because of antitrust laws. We are too important to the nations economy to be allowed to strike but we are not important enough for a mandatory surcharge that protects the truck owner. We can shut down, take a vacation, call in sick, etc as long as we don't picket or have an organized strike. How many of you will meet me in Cloverdale next week? We need action not just talk!

 

whos striking ,i am shutting down until the high fuel comes down and the low rates come up no law say I have to run my business at a lost and no law that says I cannot talk to my fellow drivers and let the country know why I am not willing to work for a loss and if the other driver feel the need to stop paying to work and we happen to meet up to discuss the problem then well if they are going to arrest us I guess they will have to build more jails

 

Who says an independent businessman, which is what O/O's are, can't go on strike?

Show me a law that says, "Thou Shalt Always Go To Work, Even If You Are Your Own Boss".

There isn't one.

 

Sure you can all decide not to go to work. They can't arrest you for not working.

You can't have an organization with the power to bargan for rates or with the power to call a strike. You can't set a price, or even a minumim price.

Say a bunch of you who have your trucks leased to a carrier get together and say that you won't run for less than 3 dollars a mile loaded and 2 dollars a mile for all deadhead.

That is price fixing and it is against the law.

Sure you can have some kind of underground organization. But things don't grow well underground. Good things need to be out in the light.

 

I have heard a lot about a strike but havent witnessed anything myself. I know fuel is high but after I had my taxes done it verified what my bank account has been telling me. I am making more clear money per mile with surcharge than I did when fuel was 1.20 a gallon.

 

thats the key to staying afloat in these times. an o/o has to be able to crunch the numbers between fuel economy and pay per mile, fuel surcharge etc to best figure out the "sweet spot" on their speedometer.
