Thought I would ressurect this thread. Getting ready to retire from the military this summer. I drove in the 90s for about 9 years, but didn't keep my CDL. I am going to go through TDI in Indiana to get the CDL again and refresh my driving skills. I pulled dry van before, but I want to get into flats and specialized now. I was looking at TMC for my first choice and Maverick as a second. After reading this thread though, I think Maverick moved to the top of my list. I understand fuel = money, either burned or saved, but I sure don't like the idea of an automatic transmission.

I became an IT guy by trade, but I think I have had enough of that even though I can make twice what a company driver makes. Money just isn't the biggest deal anymore. They kids are grown, almost completely out of debt, and just looking for good company to pull for.

    Oh, and Howdy y'all!

Don't let the automatic turn you away. I have NEVER driven mine in auto. I ALWAYS manually shift mine. Think of it like "floating" when shifting. You won't miss that clutch pedal in heavy traffic.

Just finished orientation and securement training yesterday. Home now. Leave out with my driver trainer on Monday morning. Now the real hands-on training/learning begins! Excited!
