My "CB" only goes to 28. something so I missed you!!!Sounds like you had an enjoyable afternoon though! (Actually the only radio I was around today was a Uniden 510, so I guess 27.405 was tops.)

10 has been very good for weeks .....
Even with my limited HF station I have worked many states on both FM and SSB and been heard in England on AM ( 29.03 mhz ) AND .... I'm using a 7 band vertical ....A IMAX would be several "S" units better ....

Tops me. Talked to Boston, MA today on ch. 38 LSB. Never have been a big skip talker although have had the equipment to do so in both a mobile and a base and have done a little. Now all I have is a little RM Italy 300 in the mobile and no base station at all. Doing the Schottky diode mod on all my dual final radios now. Anxious to see how well that turns out. Found me a tower I can have if I take it down.....another base station could be in my future!
(wish I still had my old HR2510 and D104!.....may have to get me one of those Yazoo "CB"s.........sorry, couldn't resist. LOL)

The FT-840 is the oldest in use radio T have at almost 14 years old It is a stable work horse on all modes even CW. I have a Ft-620b I bought i 1976 which gets lttle use.
I don't chase DX or work contests this weekend 10-11 is the 10 meter one
There shoulld be a large number of ststions on........
As for HR2510's I had a Lincoln years ago that i moded the RF stage added a channelguard filter and chipped switch it making it a very good radio on 12 meters and allowing me to make my first contacts on that band.
I hope to get a all band radio to run in the car this next year right now I just have a 2 meter one .... My DR-03 mike is bad and i'm looking for a replacement ... -
Beantown not a bad trip at all. I think that you will enjoy the base. And the HR-2510 are very nice radios. I still have 2 Lincolns which talk very well with a D-104.

I liked mine. Used it as my last base. Pushed my old Maco 750 pretty good!
Awwww the good ol' days! -
What I use as well. Underrated radio, imo. I'll use it, or my old 148-GT. -
Easy to understand... I listen on a few of the ham bands, They are pretty dead these days. If your gonna complain... You gotta find somebody to complain to!
-
I may be wrong but here goes MY understanding....
It is illegal to sell non certified radios.
It is NOT illegal for anyone to posses a non certified radio.
It is illegal for a non licensed person to transmit on a no certified radio on the 10 meter band
A licensed operator may transmit on the ten meter band with a non certified radio.
A non licensed or licensed person may legally listen to a non certified radio on any band.
No one may transmit on the 11meter CB band with a non certified radio.
Non-certified refers to non type accepted.
I was TOLD this goes back to the old days when many hams built and used their own equipment. It allowed a licensed ham to build and operate their own equipment. Again this is just my own understanding based on what I have heard and read.
Here in NY we have an interest law that parallels this... Switchblades.
You cannot buy or sell switchblades.
You cannot possess on your person or use a switchblade UNLESS you are engaged in hunting or fishing and are also in possession of a valid hunting or fishing license.
I have seen this myself in a real copy of the NY state penal laws. It was pointed out to me by an NYPD officer years ago. So if I can't buy my switchblade to hunt or fish... How do I get it? Guess I have to make my own? -
