There is always someone who has something bad to say. Some have actually had a bad experience and have a legitimate reason to gripe....but the majority are just negative people. Nothing satisfies them and they will find fault everywhere at any job. They are the type that can simply never be satisfied. Take it all with a grain of salt. Millis is not perfect, no job is. Millis is concerned with maximizing profit and minimizing cost...every business should, but much of what you will hear that is negative comes from people who cant be any other way. Millis has been, and is being, good to me and until that changes my opinion wont change.

he may have had a valid reason but many times the guys whineing and complaining at the terminals are the same guys that also say I won,t do this or I won,t do that no way would I start my clock to take a little 20 mile run to its final etc etc etc !!!!!!!!!!!stevenneill and MTownZ Thank this.

Thing is you have to really work. Its not just run when you want...its run non stop. I run the second my break is over and I LITERALLY do not stop for anything but fuel and the customer. I start my month out with $200 in groceries in the truck. I eat when the load is done for the day. I run nearly every load early and I average 3200-3300 every week consistently. I never contact dispatch unless there is a problem or to inform Pat what my hours look like when they are low...but a lot of guys say you have to kiss ### to get miles. Thats bull...you just have to work, dont whine, and don't refuse a load because it interferes with your crying time at the terminal. I mean the ones who have time to complain should really look at thier own work ethic. Of course its never thier fault though. Yeah...right.
sapamil, MTownZ, eurotrash and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'm back home for 2 days after being out with a trainer for a week. Left out sunday morning and came home saturday night when we ran out of hours. That's one good thing about running regional, when you run out of hours, you get to go home for your 36hr restart. We passed by my house few other times this past week, so i could've went home few times this week. And my trainer runs the same amount of miles as the long haul guys
Very productive and educational week it has been for me. I drove 3200 miles my first week, and have gotten all kind of experience, and really learned a lot. We ran ga, fl, sc, nc, tn and went to st. Louis one time. Interstate driving is going very well, according to my trainer who says that i have an excellent control of the truck already and my shifting is improving. Backing is a different story..but it's getting better also. Also learned a lot about weigh stations, coupling, and qualcomm. Just like my trainer said:"driving the truck is the easiest part of this job". even though driving down the mountain while being pushed by 80 000lbs was pretty interesting experience...
I'm seriously considering going regional after all i've learned this past week....but then i haven't done any long hauls yet so i can't really compare.sogaboy51, Ga Dawg141 and Homefire Thank this. -
Is this directed at me?
-
yeah i believe it was.
-
Eurotrash... How's the OTR with the trainer going?
Be safe,
Tim -
I can't say either way but stevenneill says it very well! He's correct no matter who he is directing this towards!
-
why would you think i was directing it at you? In the past month ive heard more whining and crying from people sitting around doing nothing than i ever thought possible. Why in the world would i single you out of that crowd? Does the description fit?
