Look at the bright side though: could you see all the exotic places of the united states (Like Chicago and New York City) working for McD's?

Do your downshifting Before not After you get on the grade. Once on the grade, you do not want to take that truck out of gear.

You are absolutely Correct China, every trucker driving manual Ive ever read says Do Not Attempt To Shift Going Down A Steep Grade. Besides, common sense will tell you, especially in places like the Grapevine, Donners Pass and others, that if you miss, you are in trouble. lol Really though, the manuals say do your shifting before descending the grade. The old rule of thumb was go down the mountain one gear lower than what you came up the mountain but that was before Jake Brakes and also before 500 hp engines came along.

    Math is wrong:

    3200 X .25 = 800.
    3650 X .25 = 912.50
    4100 * .25 = 1025

These are gross numbers but just multiply eachby .8 (Income Tax) for Net earinings. I think if you are teaming you EACH get .25 per mile not splitting the total. If you are splitting the total you are getting Sr*wed by your company.

"... trucking is a life style not a job ..."

I do not know if that is in the FMCSA regulations, but I will not go along with this idea.

"My first and current company as a new driver I was making $900 - $1600 per week"

Hello. Which company, and doing what?

By the way, what did you learn in your search for this job about the market as a newcomer?
