Just because they keep the straps on the winches, wouldn't mean they are throwing the straps. They could unwind them, throw them and then wind them back up. LOL

you got to do what ya have sometimes, ya must have missed the rotator cuff part, genius. its not hard really, you use a little common sense and make sure no one is on the other side.
-
If they are on the other side and get hit they will definately let you know.

I don't typically throw the hook end of a strap, but how would doing that be any worse than throwing chains? -
When is someone going to invent something that folds my furniture blankets for me?!?
SHC Thanks this. -
I will race you strap for strap.

####, I must not be a professional super trucker cause I roll mine on the winches and I throw the hook end. Some things on here crack me up. I read a little while back several professional truckers were making fun of another driver because he carried his clothes in a backpack to go take a shower.
LOL.
Use the winches 3-5 times some days and the steel plate ain't gettin hurt by the hook. Obviously if it is coated pipe where they want padded stakes and dunnage then I don't throw the hook. Also don't throw so much as to let the hook hit the reflective tape or the boxes on the trailer.trucker82 Thanks this. -
I carry my shower stuff in a back pack but I don't throw my hooks. Go figure.

I have never had a shipper tell me how to throw the straps.

Shipping Sheetrock, plastic pipe, and sensitive stuff like that is dumb to throw the hook. I've seen people get yelled at for it. Hitting people is another story. And throwing chains being different than hook ends? When are you going to throw chains over a load that could use straps? Sounds dumb to me. Chains: equipment, coils, some plate steel, belly chains on steel mesh bs, etc. Straps and chains have separate uses. I know if you're hauling steel for some places, like Deere...depending who's working in receiving, they will not be happy about chains at all. This is just my experiences. I do know that there are some that can be mixed uses, but I'm also using more general freight as examples. Feel free to correct me, I'm just a youngin.
Sublime Thanks this.
