Well, Congrats Vince. I know you deserve that reward.vinsanity Thanks this. -
I was reading this thread and some others trying to decide how and with with company I should goto get my CDL, does USX take students from the beginning or do you need to get the CDL first? I am in SoCal. Also I was trying to understand some of the terms you use, like - regen, restart, repowered, PP, DT, PM, I like that you care about the student I do hope to get someone who cares as much as you when I get in school.

US Xpress does not train you to get your CDL
harlycharly55 Thanks this. -
Don't they only hire team drivers from Cali too?

I'm the bitter ex US Xpress driver now, but if you don't want to team, you can probably find places that pay better for solo than USX. Better than some tho I guess.

Regen- A process your engine undergoes where it heats up and burns particulates out of the exhaust system. Can occur while driving, but is sometimes required while parked and should take 15 to 30 minutes. Have your trainer explain in more detail, but that about sums it up.
Restart- Assuming you mean a 34 hour restart. This should have been explained in detail in CDL school, or will be when you attend. Legally, a driver can drive and be on duty for 70 hours in any 8 day period. That time limit is reset back to 70 hours if you have a full 34 hours (which now needs to included two periods between 1 to 5am) of off duty time. You will be taught all the details of the HOS in CDL school. If you aren't or haven't been, you will be wasting or wasted your money.
Repowered- Term may differ from company to company. It's when you meet another driver to exchange trailers or just pick up the one they already have on them.
PP- What you do in the bathroom
DT- Double team, a move used in hardcore pornographic films.
PM- Preventative Maintenance. You're usually asked to go in for one every 30,000 miles. Underpaid, poorly trained idiots waste your time pretending to inspect your truck. Every 3 months you lose a day of driving for no pay. Sometimes this will be labeled a BPM. The added "B" is for Brakes. B Service means Break Service.TruckDuo, harlycharly55 and thelushlarry Thank this.
