Route Animation Tools or Software???

Does anyone know of any software or add-ons where you could plug in "from Denver, CO" then plug in "to Edison, NJ" and the software would animate a filled line starting from Denver and ending at Edison. Ultimately, I'd like to input several dozen cities in a particular order, then have the software build a line (plotting the route, in order) using "fastest routing" or perhaps "practical miles" (maybe have the option to where the previous 200 miles "tail" fades out as the route continues, or leave the entire route highlighted) and could speed or slow the animation, and could output this animation into a video or animation file???

 

I've used something very similar to build 2d elevation profiles, useful data, and images for all the major and minor Colorado passes (that trucks use) obtained from actual high-res GPS/elevation data recordings ... but for what I'm trying to do here, it seems a bit overly difficult and time consuming, as I only want simple 1d "paths" that animate from point A to point B. But thanks for the tip. I may be able to use this elsewhere.

 

I appreciate the work you did. It's worth looking into and get's me closer. Ultimately I'd like a visual like you often see in movies and cartoons showing the "family trip" on a map, sped up ... excpet maybe 6 months worth of OTR driving compressed to 2 minutes

 

No, don't want to store bread crumbs or tracking points then plot these because I haven't been doing this and don't wish to. I want to be able to plug in beginning and ending points (city/St), in order (like unlimited via's or waypoints) then have it go from point to point to point until it reaches the end of the "file"

 

That may be exactly what I'm looking for. Will just need to determine how to go about inputting "city centers" and how many I can put into a "very long route"
