Natural resources are temporary, so what's the difference? Smell ya later...

tfws dont take away jobs, those jobs remain, just staffed by tfws- the employment standards for those tfws are lower, and the pay is less as well, so they dont put as much money back into local circulation having sent a portion back home. just got to remember who your friends are that enabled your hardship through the tfw program. dont say you were never warned.

It should be noted that Paul Easson sits on the Executive Committee of the Canadian Trucking Alliance (of which David Bradley is the CEO). Easson is not the only Nova Scotia trucking company owner hiring Temporary Foreign Workers. There are other prominent Nova Scotia-based members of David Bradley's organization throwing the applications of qualified Canadian truck drivers in the garbage in favour of Temporary Foreign Workers.

Not just in Nova Scotia. It's a Canada wide thing in the trucking industry now. The TFW was tailor made for trucking and is easier to implement and go unnoticed because the general public is against the trucking industry to begin with so they don't care.

well one thing we can do, is identify those trucking companies and their clients- organize a public boycott of them- of course it 's not going to be 100%, but if we can manage say, 5% it's probably going to hurt more than what those tfws save. either try something or give up

Bringing foreign drivers to Canada to drive truck that haven't even seen snow/ice or driven in/on it is just a bad idea.

I understand where you are coming from, but at the same time how many american truck drivers come from southern states who havent driven in snow and ice before ? or hauling through the rockies ? if your measure of capability is inexperience....hell, you'd never be born, you know ? dont say folks cant do something without given them a chance to learn, that just isnt right.
If you want to argue a point, take the high road; but dont pretend you and I were born with any more knowledge than the next person.
Dont blame someone for wanting a better life, look at who is using the immigrant and who enabled that use.

I approached EI for assistance to get my class 1 and they will not pay for the course! At least not in NB. I'm still trying to put together the funds for driver training.

I hate to sound crass, or ignorant, but the temporary foreign worker is affecting actual Canadians that want to get into the industry, its infuriating actually... I would think there would be more support across the country to get Canadians behind the wheel that want to be actual well educated and safe truck drivers instead of importing steering wheel operators! I'm sick of watching the foreign workers get funding for training just handed to them, while I'm working my rear end off to get behind the wheel. Blasphemy if you ask me!
