Heavy trailer always hooked first in the set. Turns are easier pulling a set, after hooking the set don't forget to turn the air valve on the dolly to the on position, visually check to make sure fifth wheel jaws are locked after pull test, carry an extra pigtail with you in case the one with the dolly malfunctions so you are not stuck with no lights on rear trailer...these are a few things that come to mind after pulling doubles for 5 years of my career

2. You don't have to swing as wide with them as you do a 53'.
3. Keep in mind , they are very hard to back. If you get into a situation where you have to back, you will probably have to disconnect and move each separately.
4. When hooking up, put your inverter dolly in front of the rear trailer, hook the front trailer to the dolly and back the dolly up under the back trailer.
5. Don't forget to open your air ####pits on the front pup and close them on the back(Where the airlines hook)
6. Close the air ####pits on the front pup when you get ready to unhook after you've dropped the back pup.
7. As already stated, Watch the clearance between your tractor mudflaps and the front pup landing gear.
8. When dropping them, drop the last pup first if you have to split them up.
9. Once you drop the last pup, pull the converter out from under it, close the air off and drop it, then drop the front pup.
10. Always make sure the Safety latch is engaged on the Pindle Hooks.
11. Going down the road, do not let the pups wiggle a lot, if one drops off the pavement, you will probably lose them.
12. Do not spend a lot of time looking in your mirror at them. you can tell if they are wiggling just by the way your tractor acts(sways)
13. They will actually ride better than a 53' van.
14. If you blow a tire or get on ice, they will be a lot more squirrely than a 53' van.
15. Keep in mind that you will be pulling about 61' worth of trailer instead of 53'

A lot of this you will be taught, some you wont.

Not really, just exercise the care you do with a 53'. If youre in a tornado, watch them pretty good. I saw a Fed EX lose the back pup in a tornado not too long ago, course, there was nothing he could do about it.

Do not break your set on a down slope, because, you'll have to make it on an up slope, and you won't be able to push the con gear, which weighs about 2000 lbs.

Went out yesterday for a little pulling doubles that where empty.Really different thats for such cause you can turn sharper than a 53ft.I get the midnight to 7am shuttle every thursday and friday.

As others have mentioned, the heavy trailer goes in the lead, at ALL times. Scale every time if you can, and mind the scale readings. They should read progressively less towards the back. If at ANY time BOTH the dolly AND the rear trailer axle each scale heavier then your front trailer axle, they're backwards, REGARDLESS of what's printed on paper.

Steer gently, and don't get yourself paranoid watching the movement of the back one in the mirrors.

Well i did my 2 runs and its not all that hard.Its kinda neat watching the second trailer turn.Glad i took the shuttle runs.

Good.

Just watch where you do your hookups. Always look for a level spot. Dollies aren't nice things to have to manhandle much.

Just keep a steady hand when driving, don't jerk the wheel unless absolutely necessary. You'll be fine.

i would come in 10-15 minutes early and Learn to back the dolly up while connected to the lead, first time you hook up in a snow covered parking lot without a hook on the truck you will be glad you can
