If you are making a right turn and you got room on your left just swing out to it..Basically if you have it on the left and there are no 4 wheelers then use it. sometimes when Im approaching my right turn I will put the whole left side of my rig in the left lane and make the turn.

As I was told in school... use the room while you have it. Once you lose it, you can't get it back. And that's very true.

One of the concerns I have is that for one of my stops, I go to the abck of the customers building, on the other side of the block. In order to get back there, I have to make a buttonhook right hand turn off of a 4 lane road going through town. I slow down and even stop if I have to, in order for traffic behind me to allow me to swing left...but then traffic in the coming direction freaks out and swerves, lol. I dont go into their lanes at all, but to them it looks like it...would hate to cause a panic and have people start swerving and hitting trees or whatever.

Are you starting your turn in the far right lane or the second from the right lane?

well let me know how it goes for you. If I ever become a trainer I will be sure to get you driving like a pro...also I don't claim to be the best either I have rode my trailer tires on plenty of curbs. Hell I remember my first day out with a trainer I was in MD and it was a tight turn guess what? I did it all right but I scrapped the stop sign up against my trailer..lol luckily I was going slow enough to avoid damaging it. You can only get better with time everyday you should learn something new.

Sometimes it is unavoidable to do this, but at least do it gently.

I've been in and out of driving for years before it was 40 footers some times no spot mirror's used to carry a spot mounted on vice gripes.
A couple of years ago got back to driving again the guy I worked for had all spread axles no slides 48ft flats & 53 ft walking floors didn't now that I disliked right turns so much, till then, seems like only way is to use 4 lanes this was several times a day it was the only way they would make it. I'd like to hear feed back on this maybe I'll learn something you know Old dogs and new tricks

I grab the left lane and block both so they cant sneak in, or if its a 2 lane, Ill wait till its clear enough to take some of their lane. Its the only way to do it in a tight turn where a buttonhook wont work or is not enough.
