Im a Frac Operator for Sanjel no experience was brought in at 16.oo I pull over 100 hrs a week. Free housing and meals while on rotation. Its 2 weeks on 1 week off. $150 a pay check shift differential $1000 a month for travel. They need 80 drivers/operators right now in Odessa. Best part if you have a family medical is only 400 a month but starts immediately after you start. You will go to Cibilo for a week of training then out West.

Is that 1000 a month instead of a per diem? Do they pay 40 hours on your week off?

just asking for the rest of the crowd that may or may not know to.

Is that just for frac ops, or do they have driving positions also?

Most frac companies are the same in that they hire cdl drivers to drive the equipment from one location to the other and then run the equipment to frac the well. Sometimes as little as 10% driving. Lots of sitting on your ### waiting for something to happen so you can do your job and then the labor of rigging up and down and treating the well.

Unclegoose.....They do not pay Per Diem because they house you or provide you with a hotel. That $1000 if to get to work. I fly in from Florida and my tickets is $400 round trip so that is what thats money for. But you get it even if you relocate. They don't pay 40 on time off that is hard pressed to come by. I dont think that many companies will do it anymore because workers are a dime a dozen now. Well at least in driving they dont you need to get on a rig. Derrick, Floors, tong, roughneck, roustabout is all entry level I think as being on a rig Big Dog Drilling pays on off time not 100%.

Glenn71.... Well all their position are 10% driving 90% operating. Thats for Frac, Cement, Coil tubing but its a foot in the door. If you want to strictly drive go water thats 80% driving 20% hooking up. Hauling water drove me stir crazy will all the sitting and waiting especially being on rotation. Being on a Frac crew you might be working but you get paid for your down time unlike hauling so it actually pays to sleep lol

Very interesting. Do you know roughly what percentage of your coworkers commute like that?

This is what I'm continually worried about. If I'm considering a career change into the oil patch I suspect there a many many more planning and doing the same.

Well on my crew of about 25 of us 15 of us live outside of Texas. But the company will relocate you if you wanted. I work out of Odessa if I wanted to I could move to San Antonio and they have a bus that will drive me to Odessa from Cibilo and return me back after 2 weeks. Even when I fly in I go to Cibilo its 20 miles outside San Antonio. The company does this because it doesnt want its workers exhausted and driving so the bus driver all he does is drive and sleep they wont allow him to even put on a uniform because his job is strictly to transport us.

Well I can tell you this I get paid for 3 weeks a month and I am bringing home little over $6000 a month.

I'm going to say this as politely as possible, but feel free to take offense if you like...

While you are asking questions that have already been answered or are easily answered by a google search, thousands of other people are being hired.

"Crap or get off the pot" dude.

I have applied for a July-September CDL program so I'm afraid I will remain constipated for another 4 months.
