75 years old, two heart attacks, seven!!!! years and he still works for England? I'll bet his England Limited Edition 'Top Gun' Bomber Jacket is chock full of patches, medals, and chevrons saluting his 24th consecutive quarter with England. Is he a member of the elite 100,000 mile club? Does he have the "I R a Supertrucker" logo on the side of his truck? Gotta be proud...

The guys who have been trucking for 10+ years look at driving like they could do it blindfolded while a less than confident student will either rise up and man up to their trainers level and expectations or fold like a lawn chair. I have seen this treatment in both levels of training where basically if you dont catch on fast you are screwed because nobody wants to "hold your hand" or just give you a meal ticket in this industry. Plus getting in the way of your trainers pursuit of moving freight can almost always get you put out of a truck at no fault of your own sometimes. This industry is very competitive. You have to be confident that you can deliver asap and not when it may be convenient for you. Imo and to the op, **** happens. Its just good that you may have found a better situation. And yall can say that all comps are the same but cr england has been the laughing stock at all the truck stops where I have witnessed drivers talk down on comps for a while now. Food for thought.

What ye mean? My Western Star LOVES USA Truck.....(not)
As far as CRE goes, is this supposed to be news to anyone that can spell "Google"?
Why someone making a potentially life changing decision about a career doesn't spend at least a day researching the potential companies, is beyond me.
MartinJoetro, 77smartin and joseph1135 Thank this. -
I work for England. Some of the people involved in training shouldn't be. Another problem is they let in a lot of people who aren't, IMO, mentally qualified be truck drivers.
Still, I learned well - because I am a good student - and I have a good job with them. -
Anyone considering CRE because of the local Walmart fleet out of Colton California just forget about it. That fleet went way downhill just like the local Coke fleet. Talked with a CRE local day cab driver doing the Walmart fleet the other day I was home and long story short the treat them like day laborers.

Lol I wanna know how the ###% something like that can even happen!! Driving with eyes closed? Bobtail even, thats like driving a pickup. P.S. the cop looks kinda hot too!!

Do you mean they don't stay busy? I was thinking of moving over there. The job listing is 2200 mi/week avg @ $.385/mi + $15/stop (that's $30 - $60/ day stop pay). That's about $1,100/week for a local job - not bad.

Those days are over. There are more drivers than day cabs because they have to share with the Coke fleet. Also freight is scarce most days but they do have their busy days. The freight fluctuates a lot so it is hard to forecast how many drivers they need everyday. The driver I talked to said some days he hangs out at the terminal all day and only makes $60 moving empty Walmart trailers around.
Basically his day goes like this. Calls his DM from home at 0600 to check in. Gets to yard at 0700 and checks in again to see if there is a day cab and/or load for him. Some days he sits there until noon waiting for a load and when he gets one there may still be no tractors available. This driver said the other day he checks in and his DM says he has a load for him but no tractor. So he shows some tenacity and waits by the entrance for day cabs coming in. He asked one day cab driver if his shift was done and he says yes and hands him the keys.
He calls his DM and tells him he has a tractor and is ready to roll. The DM barks at him and said he needs to follow proper protocol on getting a day cab and gives that tractor to someone else. Driver ends up doing only one empty move for the entire day for $20 and still gets home around 9pm. Starts the whole process again the next day.
