I hope you don't mind me suggesting a few options.

Interstate - paid % of load

Schneider - paid % and pick your own loads

Landstar - Paid % and pick your own loads

You two looked into jct? I left them to come work my ### off in the oilfields, but they were a solid company. I think all you have to do is pay your Highway tax and they cover the rest when you sign on as an owner op. Big miles for solos at least, not sure about teams. Best of luck to you guys! Swift doesn't deserve a hard ### working team like you guys in my opinion! Especially now that the tractor is out from under them, probably lots of money to be made by you two! And be home more often!

If you're a company driver, Swift wants it done every 2 million miles.

I am a lease op, i was just asking which is better to do every 40 or every 20. Mechanic at peterbilt said the engine would last longer if i get a grease job every 20.

I had to get a hub seal on my right front steer fixed and the break pads on that tire replaced. a shock obsorber, got my 90 day dot done and now i need to get an exhaust leak fixed :/. I really dont like these exhaust systems in these trucks. Do they really save you money on fuel? In my opinion this is california trying to make money.

I would grease every 15-20. My last company did them every 5-7k. Oil every 30k. And that was a penny pinching large carrier. But they knew how to keep the trucks rolling.

On the load lock thing LadyK. I know that you know taxes. But I would make sure that DM knows that you only get back 25% of the cost of them on your taxes. Since you only get back what you paid in income tax on that money. I saw a really nice 48 foot stainless spread today. It is for sale, but I think they are trying to sell the chromed out W-9 it is hooked to with it as a package. It is down on US-27 in Florida. Somewhere near High Bridge, if I remember correctly. Really really good looking spread reefer. Don't see a ton of them around anymore.

I can understand Swift looking at seniority in a way. But they should count all time at Central as that drivers seniority level, that is what most company's do when they buy another. I still think that first empty= first loaded is the best policy though. Keeps the arguments down, and keeps it fair.

On Dragon's exhaust question. Nope, they don't save you any fuel. That is not what they are made for.
The DPF is to get rid of particles. That were made due to the use of EGR. Yea, before 2004 trucks did have particles in their exhaust. But the amount got much larger with EGR being used to cool the burning temps.
The weed burner exhaust does help some with fuel use. Since they are lighter and do not extend beyond the cab. Not sure which you were asking about, so figured I would hit both.

And by the way. Nice to see everyone. Had to drop in and take a read.

Oh, and I would say that the grease will not effect your engine all that much. But it will really effect your suspension. And everything attached to it. Since if you let that stuff go dry it will wear out fast and you will be replacing ball joints, tie rods, universal joints, shocks, etc. Learn where all your fittings are located, get a grease gun, the battery ones are great. And do it yourself every 5-6 weeks, at the minimum. Once you get use to it, it will not take more than 15-20 min at the most, plus it allows you to look for wear on all those parts.

Has anyone seen West Valley lately? I was here 2 weeks ago and it was a little disorganized...now its like working your way through Armeggedon! And, since I have an axle seal leak, I've been waiting in line to have my truck triaged for almost 4 hours now with no idea of how much longer it will be.

Before, I understood that it might take a while to get my truck worked on at times. I was and am okay with that. But, tying me up with my truck for this long when I have other things to do and I've already been up for 16 hours? That's just plain disrespectful of a drivers time. I'm sure the royal owners wouldn't put up with that, but I guess its alright for us serfs.
