I'm leaving my hometown I'll start training at Prime. Was looking for a good trainer possibly on the site or a driver for Prime that can give me good advice.

Most of the complaints I've read were due to lazy trainers.

I've work with diesel and trailer mechanics and parts for 5 years, now I'm choosing to get my CDL and experience through this program.
Any help is appreciated and I hope I'm welcomed.

    Welcome,

I drove for Prime for 2 years as a Lease operator, that was years ago though. I can tell you from my personal experience that there are some bad trainers out there and some good ones. My first trainer took me to Florida, where he lived and emptied out his truck quit, Prime let me sit ther for 2 days before allowing me to pick up a load, and deliver it in springfield. I got back to the yard, and they told me good job on getting that truck here and the load delivered, but you have to go back out with another trainer for 10,000 miles. I leased one of their trucks, I drank the Kool Aide. I can tell you I alost never got home, and when I did it was a fight, all I ever got was a restart and had to go out again. I understand that this is trucking, but you can't afford to go home with a $900+ a week truck payment. I got my experience that I needed with prime, and found a way out.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I plan on being a company driver for my first year there, then i might come back home depending on how good this company is. I have read up by multiple people that truck lease is pretty #### expensive and hard, but its new, up to date equipment.
I'm 24 years old with no kids, no lady any more so me not being home is not too big of a deal for me. I'm mainly searching for a good trainer. The driver recruiter I spoke with is suppose to be calling me back this week where I'll talk more with him about this.
I know there are more people on this website that have some more information. I'd be pushing maximum miles a week.

That is true, but some of the Lease trainers are good people that understand. My trainer was a lease operator and he paid me mileage pay himself on top of what the company paid for my training. I am not saying that all of them are like this, but there are some good guys out there. After I completed my training we even ran as a team for about 6 months and we both made a killing, but that was an arrangement that we agreed upon Prime was not involved with that arrangement. I do agree with the training or recruiting, you have to keep that truck moving to make the payments and make money too. Like you said though No kids, no girl, and hometime is not important you will be ok. Good Luck.
