Watching this and other texting videos in very intrense.Anyone who buys a phone should be required to watch a video on texting.Just like anyone getting their DL should be required to watch a video on trks and what happens when 4 wheelers gets daring and stupid in front of semis.

I agree. It's very hard to read someone's misspelled texts while eating subway and drinking a Diet Coke while maneuvering through Chicago.

I rarely drive on interstates in my personal vehicle. But I just took a road trip in a car. I didn't know a car driver could look up and see us holding a phone playing, but I saw several.
I don't text any, and I don't play with the phone. But they can tell.

Got a texting while driving even tho I wasn't stupid Nevada roads and bad timing.. I hit the nasty ### construction bumps and my windshield phone holder suction cup came off and my phone was in it and it fell hit the ground and under my feet..so I was holding my phone and the suction cup trying to out it back up. I look to my left sure enough a highway patrol snuck up on me. And lit me up. No matter how much I tried to explain he wasn't having it.. I got the ticket it was 115$ I sent a check for 115$ and I got it back in the mail and got a call with insufficient(however u spell it) evidence... I guess

    Umm SMD

Was it insufficient evidence OR Insufficient Funds for the returned check?

If a person is in an accident, and claims the other party was on the phone or texting; I wonder, does the officer have to investigate this claim? Even in states without specific texting laws, it should fall within "driving with undue care and attention".

And imagine being old like me and needing glasses just to read, which then blur the road, eh, keeps it interesting, I just hope the messages are short! Keeps me from tailgating too!

Checking phones is SOP now in accident investigations, if you KNOW, whether it was the reason or not, you were doing something on there you shouldn't have been, call lawyer from the scene before handing over phone. Or just destroy it. Seriously.

thanks walstib - that is good to know. Although a smashed phone would be a good clue to go after phone records.

I now run a dashcam 100% of the time, because I feel it is only a matter of time until I'm involved in a wreck with a textor, facebooker, or tweeter. I'm seeing an alarming increase in dangerous driving on the AZ freeways.
