im thinking of taking a 60 foot load from fort worth,tx to 50 east of Atlanta,ga. the question I have is.
I will be about 82 foot long with a 8 or 9 foot over hang. it's 2 poles I have been looking at some of the state sights
and some are saying between 75' to 100' I need a rear escort. are they talking about the load or my truck and trailer and load?
I have ran over size stuff just in texas but first time leaving the state. or anything else you great driver could let me in on?
thanks

best bet would be to call the numbers for each state listed in the atlas. human knowledge over the phone.
Offroadjack Thanks this. -
If you have a permit service you may want to check with them. Each state is different.
Offroadjack and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -
Steel poles?
-
Ya its steel poles
-
You will have an exempt. in AL.on escort, ms. must be less than 1/3 total overhang of whole pole.
bullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
Thank you sir. I will have 3 foot up front and 9 off the back

Usually, it's 90 ft or more where you start running into rear escort requirements. Measure from the front bumper to the end of the rear overhang. Some of your car haulers loaded will be 82 ft long, so you shouldn't be required a pilot car.

i'd go 5 in the front if you can and it's legal. maybe even 6.
guys around here will stick there rebar or trusses 6 feet in the front. so they don't have to buy an AZ overlength permit. if they can keep the rear overhang under 6 feet. i was told 4 feet front by the states i've hauled in. -
Louisiana will allow 99' 1" before requiring an escort.
