Hello....I'm considering going through Knight's Training program. In the info I've received it states that in week 5 you will return to your home state to take the skills/pretrip tests to receive your Class A CDL. Does that mean you will have to have to make your own arrangements through a 3rd. party tester? That sounds expensive. I think most private schools ARE 3rd. party testers so that you when you complete their class you simply go to the DMV and pay for the CDL. I have emailed the recruiter with this question but I thought I will post it here as well so that some mightl share their opinions of Knight's program. Thanks for your responses.

I won't speak of knight as I have nothing nice to say, But this means you go to your home state and take the Test at the DMV! You get your CDL and then is when the learning really begins! Good Luck.

I honestly wouldn't use a trucking companies school program. you have to sign a contract working for them for a year or more. for a low mileage rate. I would find funds to pay for a driving school. it's better. 9 times out of 10. people that regret using trucking company driving schools. they find out later that the company is bad. and wish they could leave. but, have to stay and honor the contract. I went through t.d.i. in florida. good school. it last's 4 weeks.

before I would goto any school. I would go take the d.o.t physical exam. it's $50 to a $100 dollars. and that will tell you if you are fit to drive a truck. plus if you are using some kind of drug. I would quit using it. wait 60 to 90 days. and then go. failing a d.o.t drug screen. is not like failing a regular pre employment screen. flunk a d.o.t drug screen. it goes on your record. and there is no way to get it off. and no one in trucking will touch you over it ever.

Aye Unluckytrucker I plan to get a physical before anything else....I'd hate to get enrolled in a school and get sent home over a failed physical. If I can get WIA money I will go locally.
