I don't know how much info I can get you on a truck that old, but I'll give it a shot. shoot me your last 6...

I'll run it through Paccar but most of the stuff on a truck that old has been transfered to paper, with me being in the field I olny have acess to internet, but like I said, I'll give it a go and see what happens....

ya when I talked to the rush pete in Lufkin they had to look it up on film I think.
I'm wanting to knw what the truck was originally set up with. right now it has an 81 big cam II and a 13 in it but the truck is an 86. just kinda curious.

I would like to know how the tach sending unit is supposed to be on this truck. it was not hoked up when I got it and being that the motor was replaced with an 81 the fuel pump has a mechanical tach drive on it but th tach is still elctronic. The flywheel has no holes in the side where I am used to seeing the tach senders in a 379. there is a BIG hole directly in the bottomof the belhousing and the previouse owner said it goes in there but there is supposed to be a reducer bushing to reduce it down to the size of the sender. I was thinking that hole was for draining out junk and was supposed to be open. If you can look up diagrams for this I'd be forever gratefull. I really ned to get this thing hooked up.

you have any experience with Big cams?

About the only experiance I have with big cams is driving them, I have very little experiance on the mechanical side.

That tach is cable driven, runs out to the fuel pump area, just can't remember exactly where at at the moment.

That hole in the bell housing sounds like the inspection area so you can get to your clutch for adjustment and lube the throwout bearing and such.

If you can shoot me your last six, I can TRY and see what engine the truck orgianally had...

it's nto the big square inspection cover. it's a threaded hole.

I know the motor is set up for a mechanical tach but the truck is set up with an electronic and I'm just trying to figure out if the sender is supposed to go in that hole or if they used the old bellhousing and it isn't drilled for the sender in the side. My dad had 359's but it was too long ago for me to remember. I'll switch to a mechanic tach if I have to but I'd rather use the electronic one.

My last six are in the last post I made above

I saw your vin after I posted my last post...
I ran it through eportal, but it has been transfered to a microfiche file already, file #12019 if you want to keep that handy for the future...

I called in a favor to a guy at the shop who is going to look that info up on the microfiche, I'll post it as soon as I hear from him....

It'll will probably be a lot eaiser to run a mechanical tach in your case based off of what your telling me, but like I said, I'm not real experianced with the older trucks...
