My brother got his Rand McNally 720 by saving his points at Pilot/FJ. Took him about a year to get it. He got upset a few times along the way when the cashier would use his points for a purchase instead of asking him if he WANTED to use the points. Get in the habit of saying "DON'T use the points" when you are at the cash register.
Hi rock, no, WITI (Wisconsin Intrastate Transport Inc.) was/is a dump truck operation in Sussex. I'm not sure if they are around. How about "Breezely"? Did you know any Paul Schmit drivers? Heck, I may even know you too. I drove for Schmit from '78 to '82. Green Mack pulling a dump trailer.
I knew WITI was a dump truck operation but I thought they were on o/o operation, maybe I am thinking of Johnson sp? they are or were a o/o dump truck operation in the Waukesha area......

I bought a TND 510. Love the thing. That said , I always carry the atlas and check the route before leaving. GPS works well for the micro directions. Saves on carrying 15-20 local maps. Now I only carry 10, lol.

    Ask my GPS...

Quite frequently, I program "via's" to force it to put me on the route of my choice. You can save commonly used routes, and just add the initial and final locations to the saved files.

My bf uses not only the GPS in his PeopleNet and his atlas but he also asks me to look on my atlas to double check his routing. Between my atlas and Truckmiles.com I have often found him better routes than his GPS does. Most of the time he only uses it now for knowing his distance from pickup or delivery. Otherwise I'm his gps about 80% of the time.

I use a Rand GPS, but as others have said, it is just another tool. I always compare it's route with the atlas and use sat view for the shipper and receiver.
But last year during the blitz, I gave the GPS so many fits that it completely locked up on me LOL. Went from Saline, MI to Brownsville, TX and the only coop I even drove by was the one on 57SB in Missouri, after crossing the Mississippi. The rest of the time I was off of the big road. Me, truck, trailer, and load were all 100% legal, but I had 4 days to make the trip and thought it would be fun and the company I drove for could care less about my route as long as the load was on time.
