    Orange trailers are by far the most respected. Everyone and their mother knows landstar owner ops walk around like their shii doesnt stink which is pretty sad since most always cry about being broke.

    And yes I said my buddy takes home 16to 1800 after his lease and fuel.. Lease 1100 week so that plus 1800 is 2900. Blows landstar put of the muggy waters even at just 2500 miles a week.

    jar once you go to schneider of you decide to take that route u will see the greatness of that company. Dont forget to stop by and see the prez if hes in office.

    landstar = old washed up angry truckers

    sni= the new generation lol

    When another driver sees a SNI driver they just look and pass, VERY little respect. anyone can pull a SNI trailer. Only the best of the best can cut it here at LSTR. I just spoke with a guy here who just made NET'ed 15k on less than 2k mile doing over size. I made 6300 check (doing specialty van) in one week earlier this month after ALL expenses. Try doing that elsewhere, smh! Good luck. I'm not bashing nobody, but it seems as if your trying to bash Landstar. Nor am I boasting, just stating facts.

    Oh and by the way I'm 24 years of age, so I don't know what your talking about old angry washed up drivers. That's pretty disrespectful to call someone that who has been working out the small business American dream with all the struggle that goes along with that. Do really think they would stay with LSTR if they weren't happy or could do better elsewhere? Bwahhh. They're just saving what's good for themselves. Plus u got some nerve talking about others like that, these LSTR veterans are like the veterans of the road, been through it all and a give you the shirt of their back. Nerve I say.

    Man I signed onto LS after being off the road 4 years and they were giving me all kinds of ways to find a truck so i can drive for thm. Sni on the other hand required a refresher course before i can sign on. They have a pretty thorough vetting process. Anyone that thinks that just anyone can pull as an owner op for orange is full of it. Just go to any orientation and see all the rejects. They are fair and give everyone a fair shot but will never just settle for bottom of the barrel like LS or some others.

    I've never leased to either of these carriers, but I have done a lot of research and talked to a lot of drivers over the years. Landstar will likely have better rates once you learn their system and a few agents start using you. You can also starve at Landstar since not a single agent is required to put one stick of freight on your truck. They can and will pass over you if they have a driver available that they have done business with before. Another thing that your landstar poster here is not mentioning is the fact that many agents have equipment of their own. He claims that there is no competition from company drivers...partly true. I would actually rather compete with company drivers than agent owned trucks and the LS famous "favorites" system.

    So...to give you my honest assessment. Landstar is the place to go if you have a paid for truck or enough capitol to weather the storm of finding a few agents that will keep you busy. If you know somebody that can help you get hooked up with good agents...that's good also. The profit margin is likely much better at Landstar for those that have connections with the right agents. A lot of other drivers struggle...some starve out and go broke, go home and loose it all.

    If I had to start with a low budget, I would probably look at SNI, where I could get a nice truck and at least decent rates and have the exact same opportunity at every available load as any other o/o in the system. As long as the rates that you are offered are good rates...who cares what loads the company trucks got? The only problem I see with SNI is if they get too many trucks...their load board could get thin...but you would still have an opportunity to pick from what is there. At LS, if the freight gets thin...the "boys" will get the loads while everyone else will just have to wait it out....could be a very, very long wait.

    Edit: You can always move to LS after you have a good feel for being an o/o and have plenty of capitol to work with.

    No...what he is doing is reverting to comparing apples to oranges. Specialty dry van and oversize loads are not comparable to running dry van. He is young and full of himself and his company...so he isnt going to respond with rational, level headed information. Landstar is a good fit for many...SNI is a good fit for many as well. It all depends on where you are in your own, personal situation.
