In regards to this, Trucking is probably one of the safest industries to be in. In my 40 years, I cannot recall a big industry layoff in this industry. Of course, that could change with a minutes notice but there will always be a need for trucking, just due to the need to survive. Of course there were layoffs in companies that could no longer compete in the industry but there seems to have always been a large number of vacancies in the industry to accommodate the layoffs.

Individually, its always best to be prepared for the worst but I know of very few truckers who had to wait very long to be back in a truck.
