I love long haul. I will warn you, not running tje Northeast or Wisconsin during training is going to put you at a disadvantage if you go long haul. Wisconsonis full of roundabouts and navigating Pennsylvania can be difficult

Each person wants something specific from his or her trucking experience. If you like short haul then go for it. Me, personally, i cant do it, I absolutely LOVE long haul

It's been interesting. I passed the road test this past saturday, so i am officialy a truck driver now i guess. It took two times for me to get one. The first was the day before(fri).
The skills test, as they call it officialy, is actually 3 different tests. 1- pretrip inspection 2-parking 3-road test
On friday i passed the pretrip and majority of the parking. One thing i messed up was alley dock- i failed to back up all the way in, and there goes 10 points! Add couple of extra pull ups to that and- you fail the backing! Good news is if you already passed the pretrip, next time you come you don't have to do that again.
You will get a straight backing and one of the offsets and then either parallel or alley dock.. the computer picks which one you get.
On saturday i got parallel and passed. Then she took me on the road for 45 min. Lots of tight turns, intersections, interstate...all kinds of stuff.
Parking spaces set for backing are much tighter then the ones we used to practice in Cartersville, so every chance you guys get to practice, jump on it.
I'm at a little over 10 000 miles at the moment, we're planning another couple of days off this week, and i should be testing for my own truck by the end of next week if everything works out.
Good luck to everybody and stay safe! -
That is Awesome Eurotrash. Congrats on your CDL. I'll be in Cartersville in less than a month on the 9th. Can't wait to get this thing started. Be safe.

Good news EuroTrash, glad things are going well, and Tntim, good luck to you as well. I'm in Atlanta right now, as soon as my load is ready, I'll be headed to Trenton. Hope to meet you guys soon

I just passed a rt with Greg yesterday. They gave me one of those small regional trucks and a load to WI, where i will be picking up my truck. One thing that definitely works against regional positions.....those small trucks. They are the real downgrade comparing to the freightliner i drove while with the trainer. I picked a long haul...definitely something i think i will enjoy more....unlike my wife...but we can always find her a boyfriend i guess
Ga Dawg141 and tntim Thank this. -
