Yup. High range "granny" is very close to the same as 4th gear. Used to use it all the time for going through the E-ZPass lanes.
I learned on a 9 speed, and was issued a 10 speed for my company truck. I had a bit of a laugh when I drove a 9 speed recently, and kept wanting to grab "6th"... -
Just out of Columbus, OH at the Pilot.
It was a very stressful day, but it got a lot better.
I picked up a t-called load from New Boston, all of 50 miles.
It was a load of tires, and I didn't notice the 'driver unload' way down in the notes. The DUL field said 'N'.
That made me lose sleep last night, because I really can't do that kind of work. 3 hernia operations... and counting?
But it didn't turn out that way. They unloaded me just fine, not even a lumper involved.
Then to the next load that was stacked with this one.
A live load at General Mills, but it turned out that I was one of the 'lucky ones' (as the lady behind the glass told me) that had it preloaded.
So a quick in and out of there to a 5/14 delivery about 800 miles away.
A lot of time for the load, but it will use most of my hours coming in for the next 2 days.
I'm a happy camper tonight. -
Gary TA...
Shut down with 15 min left and have to start around 4am to hopefully make this load on time.
Got a ppl to pickup at 1530 and declined due to not having hours but planners said that was the
earliest appointment time and resent the ppl. Again I decided. Delivery at 0645 and want me
to sit until 1530 (9 hrs and 15 min) to pickup and deliver tomorrow? I don't see that working -
So what are the details of the pplan?
Pre-loaded or live?
How many miles and what time is the delivery?
They probably figure you can pick it up and then take your 10, with enough time to make the run for an on time delivery.
The wait period doesn't really concern them if you have the 'time' to do it.
After all, we are just numbers and robots to them. They never have to start early and then sit idle for 9 hours before working for another couple hours to end their work day. -
Don't get me started!

At home (Phx, AZ) debating on turning in my truck and looking into a local gig.
-
Suggestion... Make sure you have a local job to go to BEFORE you turn in your truck... Just say'ndptrucker Thanks this.
