how old were ur trucks when u picked them up. alot of mile

 

My first truck had 123,000 miles on it and my second had 23,000. It now has about 65,000 miles. TMC doesn't have any "old" trucks. I don't know what the magic turn in number is, but I doubt it over 400,000. We get preventive maintainence every 30,000 miles. The equipment is well taken care of.

 

Can anyone tell me what a new driver who went through training would expect to make their first year at TMC . longhaul, linehaul. I live in jersey

Can some one please tell me what a new driver would make at TMC their first year. Just got my cdl from a school and I live in New Jersey.

Does alot of freight come through NJ ?

hi terry, i have heard that the trucks are equipped with satalite radio and gps and other gizmos how tru is this and is it a rumor, i start on 4/21 with TMC YEAH BABY

 

I Start CDL training next month and i am trying to decide to go flatbed or reefer like KLLM. TMC looks like they pay more money but has slow months .Could somebody who works at TMC respond and tell me how freight is now and how much you can make on longhaul? Also should i choose to be paid by percentage or miles with longhaul ?

The truck I picked up had 407,000 mi. on it. I got a 2005 387 Pete(oldest in fleet). I like it. I know they are looking to get rid of all the 387s due mostly to the weight of them. They are quite a bit heavier than the 379s and Kenworths. The new trucks have all the bells and whistles. My was very well equipped, but dosn't have the "smart cruise", or bendix braking system that controls braking power to different axels when taking curves too fast. I think the new ones do have a navigation system in them, but not sure.
Mr. Annett sent a message addressing the Bankruptcy rumor and stated it was just that,... Rumor. It's not happening and not even close to truth.
In my first two weeks I've delivered 7 loads and driven about 5,000 miles. My first "real" paycheck grossed $770.00. That week I delivered 4 loads that took me from home, Lancaster SC- Lancaster PA. Then near Lancaster PA- Buffalo NY. Then bounced back down to NW PA- Boston. Then near Boston - Ft.Mill SC. From Ft.Mill - Kinards SC- Home.

 

I'm having some computer problems, so I don't have it with me out on the road.

Trucks are equipped with satalite capable radios. I don't know where the dividing line is some of the older trucks you will have to furnish the satalite reciever, which plugs into the back of the radio and an antenna. Newer model are already set up and all you have to do is activate the service. You have to pay for the service. I wouldn't want to drive without it.

As far as I know, none of the truck are equipped with GPS. You will have to furnish your own. Again, I wouldn't want to drive without one. Just be careful and don't follow it blindly. It is only a tool and you have to verify its information against other sources of information.

Other gizmos might be the lane control equipment, smart cruise and VORAD. Some trucks have a different satalite system and some are testing APU's.

Welcome aboard. I can't comment on the freight lines in your area, I try to avoid the Northeast as much as possible. I suspect you will be getting a new truck in the near future.

Hey, when did TMC start running covered wagons? I saw a LOT of em on my way to and back from Florida last weekend. (I'm in an Arrow truck........ trust me, Arrow is the SWIFT of flatbeds).
