Why are these being deleted now? Why can we not talk about these things?

C15 - standard flow inj - 550 file in ECM. - stock wastegated turbo, it does pretty good with tourque but nothing like its larger displacement brother would do.

You're ok talking about increasing performance with engine bores. It's the software related discussions that are going to get zapped to avoid legal problems.

    KB3MMX, t800kwopper and 379exhd Thank this.

Mine had factory set as 475 hp. Previous owner of my t600 now rated up to 500 hp.

    I have been reading this thread, and I have owned a 2000 year model 15.8 liter 70 pin E model, 2001 14.6 6NZ, and currently a 15.2 BSX.
I would by choice pick a 15.8 liter if readily available.
If you are grossing 80,000 plus the 15.8 liter will get the best fuel mileage every time, it all relates to engine size verse load you haul a lot of light loads say about 50,000 gross the 14.6 had the edge, empty they where about the same.
As far engine life, if the horse power is the same to the ground (forgetting about all the extra torque the 15.8 is making) there will be a little less stress on the liners because the bore is bigger and so you get a longer life out of the 15.8 that is not working as hard.

Also as engine weight difference go there is very little, as your crank is the only major piece of iron to change, the extra weight is often found in the heavier drive train to handle the extra torque.

    Just my to cents

Another question is, do both engines have difference with mpg. Im not talking about acert c-15 but single turbo pre-acert engines.

What most do not realize is it is NOT flatland where we burn 90% of our fuel its pulling the hills. With the higher torque and HP ratings of the 15.8 (keep in mind they made a 575 horse version of the 15.8) you're getting off the hills quicker even though you are burning more fuel. It seems as though its counterintuitive however you're actually burning more fuel over a shorter period of time and burning less fuel in the long run. You can climb the hill slowly and burn less GPM but end up burning more fuel over the climb or burn more GPM and burn less on the climb by getting off the hill.

I totaled my fuel milage from last week 3.59 was the magic number hit the scale in Yuma at 88500, 73500 in good land when I left for devers tx scaled in at wisner, he at 80340 truck ran anywhere from 75-92 all week long that's not to bad dragging a parachute for a trailer and hauling behind like we do. That's without idling much as well my only idle time was waiting to load or unload and when I was at the chute or on the scale.

As far as weight difference 1000lbs is about what the difference is total. Doesn't seem like a lot however my truck full offuel is 22000lbs. Which is a heavy little ##### but that's life as well. I've got an 06 with the @5.2 that is a whopping 200lbs lighter but it also doesn't have the 2050 drive lines only has 1850s in it.

Another thing to keep in mind is what the reliability of the drive line is going to be there is a lot of difference in the power you can put to an rtlo18918b and what you can put to an rtlo20918B I can say I've seen guys twist off drive lines on 550s when they were empty pulling hills, I've never had an issue putting the torque to that 20918B I have. I've got a joint that's going to have to be replaced but its to be expected not knowing the last time they were done and also shooting 8 pumps of grease into all of them didn't look like they'd been touched in #### near a year or so.

Between the 2 there isn't really much comparison the 15.8 is king is it worth the extra money that you'll pay to get one that's for somebody who's looking to decide. I'll never go back to a 14.6 for anything more than getting me by while my 15.8 is out of framed or remanufacuted. As Carroll Shelby said horsepower sells vehicles but torque wins races.

Now then my ONLY complaint on a 15.8 is they're not Common and on a 1MM or a 5DS you will pay out the behind to overhaul one. Putting together a platinum kit like you can get for a 7CZ is about $3000-4000 more depending on who you buy it from because it has to be pieced together. I've done enough calling on parts to know other than parts availibilty though and price they're worth it.

    Just my 2 cents

If you can go to Cat and buy the parts, then you can talk about it here.

    Is a 2000 C-16 an actual 7CZ motor?
