I work at transport america and love it here. This is my first trucking company but from the horror stories I hear about other companies, I think I made a great choice. I'm on the south east regional division and get good miles, home on weekends and my dispatcher is great at getting me home when needed. (Even though I'm home weekends, there may be something during the week I have to get to).
If they had a local home every night position that I could get into, I probably wouldn't even think about leaving. That or a better lease purchase program. Here you need 3 or 6,000 down.
Every blue moon I get pissed off about something, but that's the truck world and I truly feel my dispatchers do everything possible to keep me running and happy.
So overall I personally would highly recommend TA.weldertotrucker23, Wharf Rat and dennisroc Thank this. -
TA is good company regardless of all the horror stories they say. So what is the typical orientation like and what happens after that as far as training and how are the trucks.
-
Orientation is 3 days. First Day, haft of the class goes to get a DOT physical ( which is easy ) the other haft stays and do some work on the computers. Then the they switch on the first day and do paper work in the morning. Second Day more computer work you will learn about hazmat loads like where you can and can't go. Through out the second day you will do a test drive with a trainer ( i was in Fort Wayne we had two trainers for that ). Third day more computer then you will get a trainer for 21 days out and then you will go to your main terminal for testing out. The Trucks are ever nice a few old Frightliners ( 2011is - 2015 ) some Kw.
-
Do you need a hasmat to work for them and breakdown sounds just like any other or most of them. So what the bad things so far since you been there
-
No you don't need hazmats to work for them but will get paid more if you have them. Yes breakdown happens. The only bad thing for me is horrible place to back into and some night DM's thats about it for me.
-
You cleared something up about what I was hearing about them being a bad company. What does dac mean and will they mess with that. Also you know anything about Anorld trucking out of FL
-
Drivers call these a bad company is those drivers damage they trucks etc or don't get they way. dac is you CDL report. They only time they mess with if you abandoned they trucks. and any warnings/tickets you get will go on your dac
