Sleeping 2 hrs and waking up just to turn on or off the truck isn't good .
    your body need uninterrupted sleep.

My idle percent has been as high as 45 % once and never heard a word about it.

Quick question, I was browsing Swift's driver portal thingymajig and saw where it was saying to submit hotel receipts for reinbursement? Does anybody know what hotel receipts would constitute reinbursing? Are they just talking about mentors that have to pay for a room for their students? And breakdowns where your truck is in the shop? Or do we get a couple freebies a month or something? I'd definitely take advantage of a few if we did.

    No freebies, sad to say.

If your truck is in the shop for an extended period of time you might get sent to a hotel/motel for the duration.
You would need prior approval and a PO# for the expense, and you would need to scan in the receipts with the trip paperwork to be reimbursed.

And as you mentioned, it is also for mentors when they go on home time with a student - if the student stays in a hotel during that time.

Yea I thought so. I guess we get a discount anyways at RedRoof Inn's. Those are pretty nice rooms, last one I paid for was 45 a night with the company discount.

Where ever you stay, always ask about a CDL discount.

The Quality Inn in Denver gives a very good discount.
The last time I stayed there the best rate online for that weekend was $79 per night. I got it for $50 by calling them direct to book the room.

I'm headed there right now and the location I'm delivering to won't be open Saturday, and they'll close the gate about 3 hours before I arrive tomorrow, so I got a day to sit in Denver till Sunday morning. Might try that Quality Inn then. Is it pretty easy to get to?

It is, if you know how to get there.
It can be tricky the first time.
From the terminal go west on I-70 and take the Pecos St. exit. It is just after the I-25 junction. Watch the road signs for the Pecos exit as you approach I-25, and take the exit for I-25 then follow the signs for Pecos.
If you miss it you will have 2 lanes of merging traffic to get through in a very short distance. That can be hairy when traffic is heavy.
You will need to be in the right lane on the Pecos ramp, then you'll take the 48th (?) St. turn - which is basically a right-hand U-turn onto the road that parallels the off ramp. At the next stop sign take a right, over the rr tracks, and the hotel will be right there on your left. You'll see it on your right as you approach the stop sign.

I've seen trucks with trailers in the back lot, but I would not want to try it. I always drop my mt at the terminal before I go there. It's pretty tight.

Be advised, it is not 5-star. It does not have a 24/7 restaurant, but when it's open it has good food.
You may have to go up or down a floor to find a working soda machine.

But the staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean, and they have a free shuttle to take you places you may want to see - within a certain radius.
You can get to the zoo, aquarium, 16th St. Mall, Elitch Gardens Theme Park...

I often get my girls their own room there, and some of the staff know us on sight.
They also have a free breakfast that is not too bad. My girls love it.
