Hi there I will be getting a 2009 volvo 760 from my boss next week after suffering 5 years in a 2006 freightliner Columbia. I bought a cb today from loves, it's the chrome cobra most truck stops have. What are all the other parts I will need before I have it installed.
I'll buy them tomorrow with my points card I've been saving up the last year.
heres a pic of the new beast with auto trans and comphyness finally

Well it looks like it already has an antenna.....albeit a fiberglass one which I'm not fond of. They're really not that great IMO unless you want to limit your range to 5 miles....

But I like the Wilson 2000 trucker antennas as they are a center loaded whip style. This will get out better. They're 5 foot or so tall.

Coax....RG8X...if the truck already has it, and as long as it's good then let her rip.

Make sure you buy an SWR meter, follow the directions, and make sure the SWR is 1.5:1 to 2.0:1 for best results. Check it on channels 1, 20 and 40. The lower the better, providing you calibrated the meter, per instructions.

All of this oughta get you out a good 7-10 miles under the right conditions.

    Oh.....and I didn't see a pic of your truck....:biggrin_25525:

volvos antenna systems suck. plain and simple. buy a "bird perch" and use your own antenna and coax. i have driven volvos for years and this is the best setup for them IMHO.
