Ok so I just went through Swifts training and got my CDL, I don't really want to work for them I thought there training was a joke and I really didn't like how they treated me and how I saw them treat other drivers and students. My question is what is a good company that would take me with no experience out of Michigan. I still can go to Swift I would just like to find a better company to start out at.

I would suggest you stick it out with Swift for a while, and once you have some experience and some miles behind you then move on to greener pastures.

Roehl and Schneider come to mind, and a number of others but are you financially beholden to Swift and if so can you buy your way out?

Do not ever leave a job until you have another. That's an old saying.

Interesting. I went to Swifts school in Corsicana and thot the instructors went out of their way to help the students that were willing to listen and try. They are severely limited by only having a 3 week school.

Ditto that, as it will look a lot better for you down the road after you have at least one year of driving under your belt. It might be tough dealing with their BS, but you will likely come out of it a better driver and person overall... which will lead to better $$$ and job opportunities for that next step.

    Good luck with your decision!

Same here. I was class one there in Corsicana and Randy is the man. Mr Calloway knows the green fmcsa book like the back of his hand and Mr Jackson is a great great guy and full of knowledge as well.

I must add that I too would have more respect for you if you put in your year with Swift. I am one of the biggest, pokers of fun, of Swift on here. But they are a largely successful company. You can learn a lot from them.

As to not learning anything in school, well now, exactly whose fault is that? Did you ask all the correct questions? No. In school you don't know enough to ask those questions. This is a job you will learn by doing. It is not something you can just teach. Every truck shifts differently and all that double clutching stuff is something you stop doing over time.

What you have to ask yourself is just how much your word is worth. Did you commit to drive for them? If you did then work for them to pay off your debt. Professionalism starts with personal honor.
